As neat as this might be, I think most North American users would just stare at it and complain how complex it is compared to using Netflix or Itunes.
I know Nintendo does their own things, but they really need to just steal other peoples ideas, especially when it comes to offering a wider range of tools like paid video.

I think this is great. I thought it was already out?
I'd definitely use it if it was reasonably priced, had long rental times, good video quality, good selection, etc...

isn't the 360 doing something like this...you know, only better?
i'm not sure much i could take of watching avatards watching movies, or miis watching tv. i'd rather shoot myself in the face, just to try and end the pain.
i think nintendo needs a better handle on the fabled "internetz" before they start trying to stream or do anything like this first.
da internetz are our friend...

um no. It's better for them to find their own way of doing things rather than steal ideas.
If they can find a way to stream media without giving money to netflix, while other companies are basically paying them to advertise on their platform then that's a big win.

you mean pretty much scoring an exclusive streaming deal with netflix? i guess. especially considering Netflix gets a percentage and managed to work around their contract to get money from PS3 owners as well.

Sounds cool and different. I have a feeling that if this comes overseas, it'll be completely different.

Dang, I will hack this in my Wii, probably. There are not enough hours in the day to describe how awesome this Channel is.

This. Nintendo got where they are by being different [most of the time]. I know they would never want to shell out extra fees for something they can do themselves [seriously, there's no DVD option for the current machine and some of you think they will jump into Netflix's bed? Laughable].
They won't release anything like this until the next console I bet, because the west wouldn't buy into it because of its lack of HD resolutions.

Man I want part in this action but I rather have localization of a few games first. I would probably rent that Kirby movie as I have never seen that show.

"No, Nintendo doesn't need to 'steal' other people's ideas."
Why not? They get enough of their idea's stolen, so why not do the same thing right back to Sony, and Microsoft?

Update that home interface!
It's not as intuitive as just icons and text.

Too bad this service will never make it out of Japan to Europe or North America at this rate. Still funny how the Wii is becoming more of a multimedia console in some aspects even though so many people reject the idea and find it almost evil or "a step backwards" but will embrace this like it's brand spanking new and different.
"Not in competition with anyone" my butt.
