It was also long, detailed, and written for people who hadn't played the original. They are most likely going to be the ones purchasing it anyway.

this is when an honest reviewer reviews a game with the Wii perspective in mind. Without having bias as whether this is equal to the HD consoles/PC or not.

Wow Gamespot, for once you owned IGN (and mostly everyone else) hard regarding the COD review. This is the difference between a review that is shat out in a day (Bozon), vs. one that takes over a week of dedicated playtime to construct properly.
Chris Watters, if I wore a hat, I would tip it to you.

I like how 'positive Wii review' is synonymous with 'honest' and 'unbiased' around here.
I played the game myself a fair bit, and let me tell you, it's not notable. It's wasted potential through and through - never once feels like it even nears being what it could have been with more effort on Treyarch's part.

Yeah! Its a lame port! 20 people hurried this pile together in a year! I hate how graphics-centered discussion is around this game, this game looks like mess...or a kind of ok mess. Its like people are surprised to see, that the Wii can work with 3d-graphics. I knew MW would be like this, but still I was looking forward to this game, more than any other FPS-game this year. I skipped the snowmobiling "oh so cinematic(yeah, really cinematic:)" MW2 because of this! This is the first time Modern Warfare feels like Warfare too. I know the next FPS will be better, but this is the best war game right now. Thanks Treyarch!

@WhatCD
Some people have no standards I'm afraid.
@Yarbskoo
I've never understood the argument that something like this (and Dead Rising) is for people that didn't play it the first time around. What you are basically saying is that it is for retards, that have no knowledge of how inferior their version is.

it's not no standards. the game good you fools. What CD, and Dr_Peace. you fail.
the games controls incredibly well, though it took 3 days of play and tweak to get the perfect controls. The game is every bit like CoD4, I think you 3 are just idiots. You can't force your negative opinions down other peoples throats. This review was spot on to many of us that played the game and we are enjoying it.
NB this port is way better than the Dead Rising port, so don't even put those 2 together.
@Dr_Peace
the game isn't inferior at all. out of 100% the game is at a solid 90 percent of the original. (graphics noted as on Wii though).
MOD EDIT: Please remember that name-calling and is grounds for an instant ban.

I like how you talk about us 'forcing' negative opinions down other people's throats, yet you respond by, uh, forcing your opinion down our throats. In a hostile manner, at that. Were the insults necessary bro? I mean, I'm not gonna act like I never called anyone an idiot here, but when I have, it's been in response to things a lot crazier than my post was.
Now, I've played my fair share of MWR, and the way I see it, it's the inferior version. It's that simple. The controls are great, sure, but consider this -
The multiplayer is now limited to ten players across every game mode.
No voice chat - you can't even communicate with your team through pre-set messages ala MoH2.
In my time with the game, the framerate dipped to below-acceptable rates quite a few times, which really hampers the experience.
It's, quite simply, ugly. The Wii can do more than this. Textures are flat, the lighting has taken a pretty significant hit, and while the animations are intact, that doesn't save it from looking worse than, say, Half Life 2 (which came out how long ago?). The whole feeling of realism was part what made the campaign compelling in the first place, and it's just not there in the Wii version.
The online infrastructure works well when compared with the rest of what the Wii has to offer, but still doesn't match up to any of the other services available - even the free ones.
It's decent, and a good option for those who can't get it or don't want it on the other two systems (after all, it's still CoD4, which means it's better than every other option on the system). All I said was that it was wasted potential (and it is - Treyarch could have shown devs what's truly possible on the Wii, and instead they chose not to), and what did you do? You jumped down my throat, called me an 'idiot' and a 'retard'. That's real cool bro. Not juvenile at all.
Go ahead and respond however you like. If you think I'm wrong, go ahead and express that, disprove me, heck, even troll me if it helps your argument. Please don't hurl another conglomeration of insults, though. I'm getting tired of that kind of thing around here - in fact, you don't even need to, because I know what you'd say. You'll call me blind for not recognizing how great this game looks, an idiot for not acknowledging how this game is every bit as great as the other versions, shucks, you might even claim I'm HD-biased based simply on the fact that my opinion of this game isn't 100% positive. Don't pl0x

I never play ANY multiplayer-FPS of any system, with anonymous people, with whom it is impossible to play teammatches.
And boys, boys, boys. Use the Skype to get voice chat in Wii! Internet search dat already! I hope developers dont waste Wii's "limited" resources(of which this hasty port of MW is no indication. Wii can do much better. I think Reflex is ugly game) into voice chat, and allow us to choose the better alternative.
Graphics are sure ugly, but this is the first time I enjoy playing a CoD game, because of Wiimote. I would even say that this is the best game of warfare right now. Gameplay over graphics, any day, there are no excuses anymore. The game is the same, only (much, much)better gameplay and worse graphics. That simple. To say anything else is just bias.
---edit-----------
forgot to say, that I never get more than 7 friends to buy one game.

@varoennauraa
How is it biased to claim that the controls don't make as much of a difference to the gameplay for me as they do for you?
I mean, I'd take Wii Remote or PC controls over dual sticks any day, a better control method doesn't make the gameplay itself 'much, much' better - especially given the things you lose in the transition. There's always a tradeoff when it comes to Wii ports, and I don't believe that should be the case, because as you said, the Wii can do much more than we're seeing here.
The game doesn't have 'better gameplay' - it has a better control method (and even that's arguable - I'd take keyboard and mouse above Wii Remote, even though they're both pretty good).
As for Skype, well, don't even get me started with that. Some of us aren't five feet away from our computer when we're playing games. Some of us don't want to have to deal with a third party program just to get chat going on a console that, by all means, should have chat as a standard in its multiplayer games.
It's 2009. I shouldn't have to have a computer right next to me just so that I can chat with a friend when I'm playing games. There's really no excuse to not have added WiiSpeak support to this game.

Control method is the greatest part of gameplay. Othervice CoD's gameplay here is the same as in HD-Ready -consoles. Absolutely no reason to try to argue about that, at least not THAT enthusiastically
(at least when played against friends, which everyone should do more often anyway, and I hate playing anonymous, cheating, and not team match-able juveniles)
I have always considered mouse+keyb to be the ultimate FPS-control method, but at least for a change Wiimote is super refreshing means to do the shooting. Mouse is a little better at turning fast and finding a single pixel, but Wiimote is much faster and much more accurate in choosing/shooting several targets, that are on the screen simultaneusly.
But Wiimotes greatest, and sadly unused strength here is the immersion! With Wiimote you shoot straight at the enemy, instead of rubbing your pisiform bone ailingly into a computer table.
"As for Skype, well, don't even get me started with that. Some of us aren't five feet away from our computer when we're playing games. "
Well the rest of you then, get the Skype! And use your laptop, its easy. But ok, as I said, I'm not happy about the quality of port work here. Graphics are lazy, lack of voice chat is...well I'm not sure, if the Wii could handle that...If I had to choose, I'd take better graphics and use Skype on next Wii-FPS.
----edit----------
Because of quality I use Skype, even if there was choise! We always use Skype, when we play Left 4 Dead, for example.

Also, heh, it really is 2009 and we REALLY shouldn't play FPS's with last gen pads anymore!

8.5 for Modern Warfare from GameSpot?!
Words cannot express my surprise.
