Wondering just how well the launch of the DSi LL went over in Japan? Various Japanese websites have reported on the situation, and we have the details

- Yodobashi Camera Multimedia saw lines of up to 60 people by 9 in the morning
- the first person in that line arrived the night before
- the line eventually reached over 100 people
- one out of ten customers bought just the system itself
- dark brown was the most popular at this store
- Bic Camera in Ikebukuro had about 20 people by 9 in the morning
- wide range of customers, including businessmen, people in their 20-30s, and more
- 60 people arrived just before store opening
- the first person in line arrived at 6 in the morning
- most consumers were trading up from a DS or DS Lite
- most consumers were purchasing due to the bigger screen
- one person admitted to buying a unit on-the-spot once they saw how big the screen was
- most customers said they were planning to use the system most at home
- Wine Red was the most popular at this store
- the store manager had no worries of sell-outs

So Dark Brown/Wine Red success confirmed?

And I wanted to know about the age of the buyers.

Wow. Japanese people purchase anything/everything! Where do they find the money?! I'm not going to purchase the DSi LL when it comes to Canada. I already have a DSi. Now, I'm waiting for the next-gen Nintendo hand-held gaming system!

Nop, Japanese people didn't purchase the PSP Go, apparently.

So, your statement of people in japan buy anything/everything failed.

Most people that bought it were upgrading from DS Phat / DS Lite, which makes sense.

i think it will sell really well once they bring the price down a bit, they need to start advertising it and showing why its so much better then the phat and lite verions

@Totodile

I did!...but, it's about to be shipped. Not only that, but I don't want to use it without screen protectors applied, and those aren't even up for sale yet :(

I'm sure RMC ordered one; he'll fill us in on the details. From what I've found, it feels heavy, the speakers are a little bit louder (and further apart, somewhat enhancing the 'stereo' feel), and it still comes with 1,000 free DSi Points. Only the top is glossy, and it has 3 'snap' points for opening the system.

@gojiguy

Bigger screens make their virtual GFs in Love Plus more lifelike.

@gamblor

I thought it just made them more pixellated.

And they regretted it.

I agree with gojiguy, until we're proven the opposite.

Doesn't the system adds up more pixels, making any DS game more pixelated/blurry?

Unless they retained the same amount of pixels and turned them bigger, otherwise I wouldn't understand much the hype.

P.S. I still have my DS lite, can't complain about it.
