I must be missing the point. The game looked that good on my TV in 480p.

I just happened to watch this on YouTube today before you even posted it RMC.

It looks so nice without jaggies. Although the emulation messes up the Dino Piranha a bit. It's amazing how much cleaner a game can look just with a resolution bump up even when scaled back down to YouTube format.

I like how this video was posted in July and probably has been posted somewhere on here before.

I do enjoy these up-scaling videos. There is nothing wrong with a good game looking better.

Kudos to the coders, they deserve it.

I've emulated my Wii games on my own i7 machine. Seeing it on youtube is one thing, but in person it really is an astounding difference to see Mario galaxy running in 1080p. (or higher if your computer can handle it.) At least, to my eyes. That's why I'm really hoping those Wii HD rumors turn out to be true, despite what Nintendo says...

It doesn't load all textures, mapping materials and it's running at a slower framerate.

You should check out Wind Waker running in HD as well...here's a good example -

Just beautiful.

@WiiFolder

Yeah I know.

This would be be beautiful if it could load all the textures/lighting effects.

But one must ask...

How on earth do you play this on a PC???

And why doesn't someone with this kind of tech knowledge just try to create a Wii upscaler so this can be useful and work on a TV???

I still wish for a Wii HD...

@DarkNight_DS

Ha Ha No, it really didn't.

Sure it had all the textures and stuff but it was nowhere NEAR the resolution. And you'd have to be blind to not be able to tell.

@PiFace

Me either, I know it'd look sharper on a HDTV, but visually? It's the same [to me personally], not worth shelling out another console for [or Wii expansion - *laughs manically*] alone...

I love these videos. I'd love to try this out on my TV to see the difference.

@LegendsOfHyrule

Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.

HAHA get over it guys............

Wii and GC games will never look like this on a WiiHD.

Maybe you don't know, but Zelda and SMG also look a bit better due to some filters and effects that the emulator adds on them.

Those games simply weren't made for those resolutions. If Nintendo releases a WiiHD, they will need to remaster ALL the wii games in HD, just in the same way as Sony did with God of War Collection for the PS3. And I can assure you that it will never happen because no one will do such thing.

Problem is most of you guys seeing a difference are playing on LCD HDTV's. I have a CRT HDTV and it looks as good as this on it. If you haven't figured it out, an HDTV CRT gives a much better picture then any LCD.

I have a CRT, but it's not HD.

Too bad no one makes CRT TVs anymore. *sigh*

Glitchy Piranah...

-

There is still no point to this. You want to get rid of jaggies? Then get a suitable and dare I say decent TV (which won't stretch the image to hell), and get Nintendo to use anti-aliasing like Starfox Adventures and Rogue Squadron did on the Gamecube (both still stunning).

Anyone saying that the visuals have any real difference is kidding themselves, it just looks slightly sharper. A Wii HD would never make the game look like this anyway, it is the emulator that is layering on the effects (AA, AF, other possible filters).

No Wii HD. Next.

Is it wrong that I was thinking more about "that dude needs some coins to get his health back up" instead of "wow, that looks nice/terrible."

that's exactly the thing that was bugging me about the video. You got 1 health, your first instinct is to get some coins in your pocket.

That and that a lot of a colours and effects were off.

the game looks fantastic in an hd tv , i played right after being bored to death by ratchet and clank . And yes i though mario galaxy was better graphically . Maybe it's the art, the theme, the glow effect or the stage design which rc just doesn't have at all.

so really 720p is like arguing about 320kbps mp3 , nobody really know but like to show off
