"One of our lead planners for the game is a programmer, so he has a different, more scientific or mathematical approach, so to say, to creating puzzles. Development team members, including [senior Nintendo developer] Mr. [Takashi] Tezuka and myself, actually got stuck in several places. So the dungeons and puzzles pose a different type of challenge than what we have utilized in previous games, and will certainly require longtime Zelda fans to approach each challenge differently. I believe that the latter half of the Tower of Spirits dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks — [which] players will revisit throughout the game — has puzzles which require a different type of approach from those of previous games." - Eiji Aonuma, producer
Mr. Aonuma also discussed why Nintendo finally took Zelda and put her into a more active roll this time around.
"We recently received information from a survey conducted in the US that indicated that, among our female characters, users had a preference for those that were more on the independent side, such as Shiek and Tetra. Making Zelda a more integral part of the game was also a goal for our Director, Mr. [Daiki] Iwamoto, so we set out with this element in mind when we started making the game."

let's hope Shiek returns in Zelda Wii or Zelda gets used in some other cool way aside from being in danger
Go play a Crystal Chronicles game. >_>
Maybe you're reading too much into it...
I actually dislike that kind of female character that acts just like a guy. Differences in behavior do exist.
As well as strength and speed. Either way I'd say Zelda is relatively independent in my opinion, she needs help sometimes, but so does Link and they both help eachother.
*People might say super princess peach is too easy but 1.It actually harder then NSMB DS+
2.IMHO "Too easy">"Too hard"
+If you use the power that make her fly only for puzzles it is.
THIS, ONE THOUSAND TIMES THIS.
etc.
jk
Anyway, regarding the whole stronger female characters in Zelda thing, I don't think I'll be satisfied until they have a female Link and a Prince Zelda. (Or whatever they'd be called.) Both of their roles seem fairly gender neutral already. Zelda isn't nearly as prissy as Peach and Link doesn't have an epically manly 'stache like Mario. Some might argue that they might feel a little weird saving a prince in distress. However, if you look at Twilight Princess, Zelda had problems and needed some help but she never really seemed to fit the whole 'damsel in distress' stereotype. To the best of my knowledge she was never screaming, "Help me, Link!" as Ganondorf ran off with her under one arm. (Although that was pretty much the case in Ocarina of Time.)
Zelda=always will be female If you know the story of aol.
Which means that if linkette saved zelda she(linkette) would be saving a female zelda.
Nintendo would never do cause it would imply lesbianism, god forbid.
EDIT:I like to point out I have no problem Lesbianism+,I was only implying that N does(as well as man on man*),Nor do I have a problem with Man loving men.
+I Approve 9001%(Double lol)
*As far as what they allow in the games they make.
Yeah, I suppose since the games are "Legends of Zelda" it wouldn't technically be a "Zelda" game without a Princess Zelda. I suppose you could do something sneaky like having a Zelda game where there is a Princess Zelda and she happens to have a brother that ends up with the Triforce of Wisdom and the story ends up focusing on his troubles instead of the princess' or something to that effect.
Still, I don't think my idea would ever come to fruition but I still think it could be nifty anyway.
Lol,That's what i was thinking but his first name implies he is a 3rd person.
