"I have an eight-year-old son myself at home, and quite recently he started playing The Phantom Hourglass for DS, because when the software first hit the market he was too young. When he started playing with the boat, I told him: 'In the next Zelda, you are going to be able to ride on the train.' He answered: 'OK, Dad, first boat, and then train? Surely next time, Link is going to fly in the sky ... '. (Aonuma says with a grin) I just don't know. If many people make many speculations ... some of them might be correct. Right now, I have to refrain from commenting on anything." - Eiji Aonuma
Well that's enough of a comment for me to get excited! It's sort of a playful though, and I can't decide if it should be taken seriously or not. Keep in mind that the actual idea of flight is brought up by Aonuma's son, not Aonuma himself. It's Aonuma's statement after, along with his facial expression that have me wondering if there's merit to the comment.
Aonuma went on to discuss more of his personal thoughts/impressions of MotionPlus use in Zelda Wii.
"With this attachment, your minute hand movements are more precisely reflected … You can feel it so naturally and so intuitively. It's not just an improvement over the movement of Link himself: the realisation of your more minute movements on the screen will expand the entire gameplay. I believe that we will be able to offer some great innovations in the new Legend of Zelda. Of course I have to refrain from giving any details, but we are contemplating altering the way the game progresses in comparison with all the past Legend of Zelda franchises...but I have to stop talking here."

It's called the Deku Leaf.
Killer. ^_^
TP had some nice WM actions, but at that time I didn't experience the sword play as an improvement.
I felt that Nintendo pretty much nailed swordplay in Twilight Princess Wii port with sword spin, sword thrust, and shield bash.
The only bad part was the waggling standard sword slash.
I'd like to see Link be able to lock swords against his enemies. He's been able to do with with his shield but not with his sword. He kind of did it in Twiight Princes against Ganon but it played out more like a QTE cut scene than an actual in-game control.
Do please Nintendo!
Man, I thought the same. xD
I hope your right and it's not a plane that ruin zelda unless it were only in certain areas flying all the time would kill the exploration
Sorry mate but gliding is not flying.

I say bring it, the idea of flying is a unique and interesting idea, and they already have the streaming technology of Wind Waker.
The idea of 'minute hand movements' points to full control of Link's sword, which is exactly the kind of evolution we want.
M+ only of course, it would be suicide not to. Make it looks spectacular too, pull no punches because frankly nobody else except the brave few (HVS) are trying.
I don't know if I rather have Link himself flying or some type of plane/bird that would let you explore Hyrule Field.
If they incorporate a flight mechanic later Zelda is going to become predictable... hell! its predictable right now!
Well, there were Arwings in OoT!
Fox: Need a ride, Link?
Link: SHREEEEEAAAAHHHHHH!!!
LOL I know totally.
That what I'm saying. I suggested this in a comment I made regarding a Zelda post a week or so ago. And I'm happy as hell to see it become more of a possibility. Link sprouting wings? No thanks. A plane? Save that for Super Mario Sunshine. I'd love to see this Zelda be darker, along the lines of Majora's Mask, but sans the 3 day moon falling scenario. It'd also be nice if they fleshed out Zelda's story more.
And this is wishful thinking, but it'd be nice if Link and Zelda were romantically linked (pun intended).
Also flying has been in several Zelda games. TP had the dragon flying section which was awesome.
not like we havent seen similar things in zelda
it would be interesting to see that, considering it would be some guy on a tall tower in town, eccentric, but a total wuss, hes invented this contraption, but is afraid to test it, he really wants to see it in action, so he offers a trade:
test the contraption, you can keep the prototype, after the successful flight, he continues to think up new parts for it, and he will continue to add them when you go to his workshop
im seriously.
@Dr_Peace
"thats not flying, thats falling with style!"
@Dv8thwonder
where did you get that from?
Also Shinpies, kinda like that idea, I could see that happen in a Zelda game, most definitely:)
dont like the idea of pegasus epona, but while i was going to disagree with a dragon, it could work.
just not in an "im ridin' a dragon" way, more like, "hey look, dragon flying by, i need ride, hookshot time!"
but piggybacking just seems awkward
At least we're hearing that the structure will be very different. I'm hoping that means as different as Majora's Mask was.
And I hope people know Hyrule is a society that can evolve. I'm glad a plane may come into play.
We've had horse-drawn carriages, the hookshot/clawshot (advanced technology as it is; spring-loaded metal chain, and handheld), bombs and powder kegs... cannons (so they COULD make guns, in theory), portable cameras that photograph color, and Termina has had electric lights, as well as speakers.
No reason not to advance to a plane.
@Shinpies
Totally agree. Also, lol @ the Toy Story reference.
That would be badass.
I predict it will be a hot air balloon based mechanic.
I seriously love you now for that Toy Story comment...

I want Link to ride a Griffin, those things are underrated.
what they need to do is make two characters that act and look like john candy and steven martin and do a parAHdee of plans trains and automobiles, but in this case it would be planes, trains and boats...
i can see the title now Zelda and the magical wind of thrust.
although...@Azelover...
if they could do a really fun top down hot air ballon where you could fire down hot clamb chowder on the poeple beleow, that could be a lot of fun actually.
you could drop bombs down on people, and even use the whip or a rope to climb down to get items...i'm actually more excited about an 8 year old idea than i am about the actual train coming out next week.
