This isn't the first time that Pikachu has been featured in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Something like this really shows you just how big of a brand Pokemon is.

The parade is neat and all, but I don't get the purpose of it, especially with what we're going through economically, this is what NY decided to spend money on? Seems like it'd cost a ton of money to plan/pull off.

I don't understand the Pokemon stuff. I've never played the games, and don't have any desire to play them.

It's been in the parade every year since 2001. Though this balloon was new and debuted back in 2006.
