It seems that Nintendo may have something in mind for the Punch-Out!! series when it comes to the Wii. The Wii's control system could easily work well with a Punch-Out!! game, and Nintendo knows this. According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Nintendo filed the Punch-Out!! trademark once again in April 2005, and it was recently updated on January 11th. I honestly don't know all the workings of the patent office, but I don't think this is at all related to a Virtual Console release of the original title.
