100 people grabbed their dancing shoes, felt the beat, and set a Guinness World Record™ for the "Largest Simultaneous Dance Mat Routine" last night at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, CA on May 19, 2008. The record-breaking event, hosted by the folks from "So You Think You Can Dance," used dance pads from one of the most popular dance video games of all time, Dance Dance Revolution Universe 2, along with a large-screen television, to establish the new record. The group danced to "Funky House" by DJ Diod and "Progressive Mix" by DJ Hill for a total of 9 minutes and 28 seconds. The feat earned record-breaking participants the opportunity to be featured in the next Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition. In addition to the new record set by the group, one fortunate dancer walked away with a video game console, a dance video game and mat, and a 23" LCD flat screen TV.
