Pretty important 'End of day' thought for today, so I'm going to leave it all on the front page. Sorry to give you so much reading to kick off the day with! Don't worry, it's all great news...you should enjoy it! I am off to bed for now, gang. See you in a few hours...here's to a great 'whatever time of day it is' where you are!
________________________________
Okay, I have to admit...I think this is pretty damn cool. I have been working behind-the-scenes for the past couple weeks, trying my best to make this happen. The funny thing is, a month ago, I had no idea this was going to happen...the thought never even crossed my mind. It's funny how things work out like that, isn't it?! Let me fill you in on how this came to be, and what you can expect.
To be brutally honest, the blogging world is a rough one. I am not sure whether this relates to video game-blogging, or the entire blogosphere...but I can speak of what I know. Sometimes, it can be pretty hard to make internet friends between sites. Thankfully, I have been very lucky to meet many a great person/site/outlet. One of those great people happens to be Danny Pena (Godfree) from Gamertag Radio. I've been talking on and off with him for well over a year now. A genuinely nice, friendly guy...and a very hard worker. He's always doing what he can to make GTR the best it can be, and is caring enough to help out others along the way. It's this friendship that helped both of us stumble upon this opportunity.
Mr. Pena had struck a deal with Mogulus, an internet video platform. He was working with them to provide live-streams of various E3 conferences...with Microsoft's being the most important. GTR is a Microsoft-focused site, but that doesn't mean that their gang doesn't have love for Nintendo. That's why we both get along so well...we love all games! We got into talking about his deal, and the idea of working out a live-stream for Nintendo's E3 media briefing came up. I set out to get in touch with some people at Nintendo to see if this would be possible. A few weeks passed by with no word, and then a special email hit my inbox. We were cleared to run a live-stream from the media briefing! I'll tell you, sometimes this little dog-and-pony show that is GoNintendo works out really well.
So yes, believe it or not, GTR/Mogulus/GoNintendo will be bringing Nintendo's E3 media briefing to you, in live-streaming video. How much better than that does it get?! I was prepared to do my live-blog once again, but I think this might be just a bit more entertaining. Of course, I will still take notes during the show and post the text as the show goes along, just incase something goes wrong with the stream.
Speaking of that, I am once again going to lay everything out for you guys. This is my first time doing anything like this, which means that 100% of it could go wrong. The stream could cut out halfway through, it might not work at all, the sound might die, the video might disappear, the feed may be laggy, GoNintendo may slow to a crawl from traffic...or punk-out altogether. Seriously, you guys know my luck with this sort of stuff. Who knows...maybe everything will go off without a hitch! Keep your fingers crossed for that one. The best news is, if GoNintendo starts to have issues due to traffic, there will be more than one place to view this live-stream. Some of those links are provided below, but I will make sure to give you all the details as we get closer to Nintendo's media briefing.
Sorry to go all negative there for a bit, but I had to make sure you knew the situation! This is a pretty big deal, in my opinion...and I am hoping that all goes well. At the very least, it's an experiment...one that should turn out to be quite successful.
Now, the most important part. An absolutely massive thank-you to everyone over at Gamertag Radio and Mogulus for allowing us this opportunity. An equally big thank-you to everyone at Nintendo and their PR firm for helping us make this happen. Last, but not least by any means, thanks to all you guys. 3 years ago I would have never dreamed that a quarter of this would have been possible. Something like this would have never happened without your support. You're an amazing bunch...everyone single one of you.
Remember, Nintendo's E3 Media Briefing starts place Tuesday, July 15th at 9:00 AM PST!
