I wish I could remember what magazine it was, but back in the day, some reviewer trashed this game. They didn't like it at all, and I got really worried about the quality of the project. When Yoshi's Island finally hit store shelves, I picked it up, played the hell out of it...and had no idea how the reviewer could have hated it so much! Today, Yoshi's Island is considered one of the best SNES games ever. Man...I wish I could remember who did that review!

Heck, I'd consider SMW1 a spin off to SMW2 considering Yoshi's smaller role in it, but that's just me.
I agree. I felt disappointed playing Yoshi's Island DS. I felt that the other babys weren't really neccessary. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island will forever be the best Yoshi game for me.
Yoshi is love xD
Nintendo, and more specially NoA screwed this gen big time. I guess at the beginning of next year, most of the core audience would have left the crappy casual, consumer-screwer and money-hungry Nintendo behind, and let them cash in on the casual, misinformed consumer. It's ironic how they decided to destroy long years of work by turning into a shovelware/casual company.
dont panick like that my friend, there's still hope for the Wii, it has only been in the market for 2 yrs.
Easily one of my top 5 favorite games on the SNES.
A complete classic.
Anyone who even tries to compare Apples to Oranges (SMW1 to SMW2) is kidding themselves...
LOL funniest ignorant comment of the day
So I can understand why someone might trash it, adding promise of something from the past, that clearly isn't there, totally throws the game down somewhat. Not that Yoshi's Island was a bad game, because it wasn't, but coming off the heals of Super Mario World, and having that in the actual title, implies something grander than what is actually there.
I think it's one of Nintendo's crowning achievements in game design, myself.
That's my own opinion, anyway.
