100% CONFIRMED - SCAN BELOW
I made a trip out to the mall to see what was up with these EB Games/GameStop preorders. Now I can finally put an end to all these rumors. It is 100% official, both outlets will be taking Wii reserves starting Friday, October 13th. I am out posting this from the mall right now actually!
I have the confirmation email in my hands right now to prove that this is really happening. I will scan it as soon as I get home. Trust me guys, this is completely true. Expect the scan of the company email within the hour.

[...] Wii preorders start this week at EB! (confirmed) Posted in Wii by Chris on October 12th, 2006 at 6:54 Those crazy mothers over at Gonintendo.com have confirmation that EB Games will be taking preorders in for the Nintendo Wii. Nintendic reported earlier that it was a rumor floating around, but it’s now it’s completely confirmed with this scan of a company document sent October 11. [...]
[...] OMG! Wii is here =). Rumors said you can pre-order Wii in the state on Friday October 13th [...]

[...] Go Nintendo reports that there is confirmation that GameStop/EB Games will be taking Wii preorders starting Friday. And it appears there will be no shenanigans here… or at least, there shouldn’t be. [...]
[...] By the way, incase you missed it during the night, I obtained an official confirmation of GameStop/EB Games taking Wii reserves on Friday! Click HERE to check out the story, which contains scanned proof of the preorder start. [...]
[...] For more information on this you can view the source article here. Just to be on the safe side, I’d print this company email out before heading over to the store on Friday morning in case the all-knowing GameStop clerks give you any hassle. [...]

[...] It’s all but official that Wii preorders are going to start on Friday, which is slightly problematic, since I also have work on Friday. We’ll see what we can do about that. I’m thinking maybe some generic excuse, like I have an appointment, or something along those lines. Both Boss and Big Boss gone for the next couple of days, so there shouldn’t be any problems there. Heck, if I told them that I needed to be in line to buy a Wii most of the staff here probably wouldn’t care. I know if Boss were here he’d probably even join me. [...]
[...] Wii preorders begin tomorrow, so it’ll be interesting to see those numbers. However, with 1 million Nintendo Wii units heading for US shores, I doubt pre-ordering will be a big thing. Anyway, costing a third less than the PS3, I’m projecting that the Wii will appeal to the impulse buyer rather than the pre-ordering types. [...]
[...] Okay, considering there’s already some crazy things happening on eBay, and knowing full well that PlayStation 3 consoles will undoubtedly be a hot commodity in a few short long weeks, you might just need to reevaluate those plans of waltzing into your favorite game shop on November 19th and leaving happy. Nintendo’s Wii isn’t that likely (right?) to be sold out everywhere come launch week, but for those who don’t enjoy pressing their luck (or camping out in the cold), American GameStop’s are indeed accepting pre-orders starting tomorrow, while Canadian venues start October 16th. We had good suspicion that things would pan out this way, and our pals at Joystiq are now reporting that GameStop newsletter subscribers have just received official word that $50 will quasi-guarantee you a shiny white box come launch day — but only one unit per “household” can supposedly be claimed, and the company even warns that allocations are likely to vanish “within minutes.” We weren’t counting on this year’s “budget console” playing hard to get, but if all these sudden reports of imminent scarcity are eventually proven accurate, maybe getting your name on that list wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all. [...]
[...] While we still haven’t received official official word from Gamestop in the form of an e-mail alert or press release, reports from Gamestop and EBGames employees across the country confirm that the major retail chain will indeed be taking Wii pre-orders when they open on Friday, Oct. 13. Word apparently filtered down through an e-mail sent to the chain’s 3,600 stores late last night. Three different stores confirmed to Joystiq that $50 down would be enough to reserve a system. [...]
