December sales were up 9% from last year, which gave the game industry a record-breaking $5 in sales for 2008. With all this success going on, how come some game developers and publishers are letting so many people go?

Fun fact: Game sales for the entire year of 1997 were roughly $5 billion...something the industry now pulled off in one month. Let's just ignore the inflation numbers!
