I got worried...I thought Activision was going to let the Guitar Hero franchise age gracefully! According to the company's conference call from earlier today, that just isn't happening. Activision has announced that Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits is on the way. This game will feature full-band versions of tracks that appeared in previous Guitar Hero games. That title is set to come out this Summer.

Also coming this Summer is Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits, which we've known about for quite some time. Activision is yet to officially announce the game, but I'm sure they'll take care of that formality very soon.

Last, we have some news on the next, true entry in the Guitar Hero franchise. Activision is planning a "major re-stage" of the franchise with "all new differentiated Guitar Hero products"...whatever that means. Expect that title to hit sometime before the year closes out.
