UPDATE - This delay has since been confirmed. Square-Enix said the game was delayed in order to increase quality and take care of an unforeseen bug.

Rumor has it that Square-Enix posted a news story that confirmed a Japanese delay for Dragon Quest IX. The original release was set for March 28th, 2009, and the new date supposedly put the title at a July 11th release. The only thing that has me calling this rumor for now is the fact that the news story now results in a dead link. Let's hope that Square-Enix wasn't pulling the wool over our eyes with that accounting holdup explanation for their delayed financial results.
