May 27, 2009 by The News Team Filed Under: Nintendo in general

Yet another interesting trademark from Nintendo. I would like to hope that this ends up being a successor to Mario Paint. Whatever it is, let's cross our fingers for an E3 reveal.

I would prefer DS; it's just a lot easier to draw with a stylus. Either way, this is interesting; hopefully we find out more soon.

Who knows what this is, but if it is similar to Art Style, then I like it!

@liquidninja

I second that.

Jesus, art games was like the first thing that crossed my mind when the Wii's control scheme was detailed!

If Mario Paint was on the Super Nintendo, won't they save this for the Super Wii? ;)

Now begins the wait to find out if this is one of their passive ideas or if a product will actually come from this.

I'm really interested in what it could be. I love Mario Paint, and while I never played it, Mario Artist sounds pretty cool. Plus, I love the selection of paintings in Animal Crossing : even if they are very famous, this is a really wonderful selection, with a lot of things, from "The kiss" by Klimt to "La Joconde".

I wonder who'll be developing it.

"I would like to hope that this ends up being a successor to Mario Paint."

And I'd hope that if it is, Nintendo is smart enough NOT to call it something like WiiArt or WiiPaint.

If they really want this game to do well, and make the 'core' happy at the same time, they'll label it a new Mario Paint.

@Hellhammer

Except why would they do that when the Wii name sells?

The 'core' gamers probably wouldn't buy it anyway over a shooter, for example [and not many folk on average are artisticly creative in that way].

It looks like they won't be calling it Wii Art, Wii Paint, or Mario Paint. I'm gonna go with Art Academy.

This isn't new... Back when the trademarks post was listed where "You Me and the Cubes" popped up this showed up and I questioned it then.
