Filed Under: Rumors, Nintendo in general
Did you think that E3 was where all the big Nintendo news would come from? I'm sure it'll have some major bits of information, but now we are hearing that there may be another event to look forward to.
If rumors are to be believed, Nintendo will be holding an event in Japan right after E3. What's the focus of this event? No one knows right now, but I would think that the event would for Japanese press to get their hands on whatever is shown at E3. Maybe there will be some new release dates announced for Japan.
As I said, this event is just a rumor for right now. We'll keep tabs on any information that pops up from here on out.

Huumm...
I can see Nintendo making another s*** E3, and then announcing a bunch of exciting stuff on this conference.
... so then NoA wouldn't release a third of the games in America. Kinda like last October conference.

Rumor is rumor.
Geez dang, I'm actually getting hyped for E3, something I promised myself I wouldn't do... but damn there's just been so much good Wii and DS news as of late it's hard to NOT get excited.

@dandancc
I'm sadly seeing this as a big possibility.
"At the latest Nintendo conference in mid-June, Nintendo announced dozens of amazing, AAA-quality games, then mooned the American audience."
The Duck Has Spoken.

As usual, i'm still keeping moderation of myself (even with rumors like these).

Yes, Japan, it's the center of the universe and the most important part of their money printing machine. For once they should announce it a part of the world that actually affects Nintendo's livelihood like I don't know America, since we account for almost half of the total Nintendo Wii's sold in the F*ing world. What happened to the whole "We don't want to keep on getting killed in the rest of the world because we ignore them all the time when we make/announce games" episode the Japanese Dev's and Publishers just went through?
May 28, 2009 at 9:20 pm
I hope this doesn't impact the NA conference too much if it's true, but I can see something similar to the media summit happening where a new installment to an old series is announced.
May 28, 2009 at 9:23 pm
If this does happen, maybe it is just for demoing games to the Japanese press. Remember that some Japanese developers are not going to E3 because of Swine Flu worries? Maybe it's the same with the press too.

I think it might go down like this...
The normal conference happens and the big game turns out to be Pikmin 3 from Nintendo. They'll also showcase Wii Fit Plus, a bunch of M+ games, and possibly that Art Academy game. Everyone will say "NINTENDO BETRAYED UUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSS!" and then bickering commences, trolls come out of their shells, people will remind everyone there is another conference, and so on. Of course, they could surprise us with more. However I think the awesome third party games recently announced will take the stage more than anything unless Nintendo really do surprise us with this.
The next conference will then begin and they'll announce some really good stuff, and probably more info on games from last October's conference. They might even usher the Japanese devs who are afraid of the swine flu to come over and announce some good stuff. Iwata already addressed the problem in Japan and I really doubt that'll go unattended. He did say they'd have several market moving titles by year's end. Anyway, I think this will be the better conference.

@slowpoke2
Dude, this is Nintendo.
The other devs that you mentioned are pretending that the 360 is selling the most in the West and ignoring the Wii.
@Eternal Rain
I hope so. I really hope. As someone said, Nintendo could make a kickass event with tons of announcements and things to show, and this is just to show the Japanese what is going on at E3.
@Soriku
Who would have the guts to say that Nintendo betrayed us if they show Pikmin 3 and Sin and Punishment 2?

When is Nintendo going to wake up to reality and realize that Japan is no longer the center of the universe when it comes to their profit? Far more of their revenue comes from their overseas markets (NA & EU) than Japan.
Take off the blinders Nintendo.

Wasn't there something like this last time? Everyone was disappointed because of Cammie and the conference and then, there were some rumours that there would be another conference. But actually, nothing new has been shown.

It seems that EVERY E3 has a rumor that circulates after the conference that Nintendo will have a super secret conference later in E3 at which a huge game will be announced.
Other than the Brawl announcement, this has never come true.

I don't know why, but I find it just a little funny how the same people who moan and complain about on rails games all day are the exact same people who'd buy Sin and Punishment 2 and a new Star Fox Wii in a heartbeat. Just saying... (no arguments please, it's late and I don't want people arguing with me right now; I'm not even trying to ignite the flames anyway).

@Neji
Better quality = more sales. You can't even compare the output from sales simply because the quality/scale/marketing aren't comparable in any level. ANY level.
When the quality is somewhat comparable (still worse in some points, but comparable), the Wii can sell better, like GH, Shaun White, Pro Evo and the likes.
Oh, and CoD and Madden ARE mass market games.
@PhazonGC
There was another conference, where S&P2, Cave Story, Tact of Magic, Cosmic Walker, Another code R, Endless Ocean 2 and others were announced.
@Eternal Rain
I know you asked no argument, but Star Fox and S&P2 both have movement freedom around the screen. They are ALWAYS a lot more fast paced too, with crazier settings and visuals. It is a pretty different experience, although you are kind of "on rails".

I don't expect much if anything big at all from Nintendo at E3 2009.We may get more Zelda Spirit Tracks info and a release date.But other then that all casual Fan stuff like the past 2 E3s before it.Mario Kart Wii was the big Game at E3 2007, Animal Crossing for the Wii was the big E3 2008 game from Nintendo, and Spirit Tracks will most likely be the big Nintendo Game at E3 this year.
I hope for everyone's sake that i am dead wrong.

It could mean that E3 will have some big games shown and they want to give Jp press a chance to play them as well.
Why people think that it means the JP conference would have anything different is beyond me.

@dandancc
Alright, yeah I agree the experience is different, but the fact is it's still on rails anyway (well unless you're playing SF Adventures or Command). Same can be applied to other games like Ikaruga, R-Type, and Gradius. Fact is they're all on rails, just with different experiences.
Eh, now that I think about it, people need to to be a bit more politically correct on their distaste for lightgun games. They should say "I hate lightgun games," not "I hate on rails games" because to me that basically translates to "oh I also hate games like Star Fox, Sin and Punishment and Ikaruga."
Just saying, on rails translates to different genres like lightgun and space shooter.
(please note that I'm a bit tired right now, so I may be spouting some things from my butt.)

Holy sh*t you guys know what this means?!?!
Yeah, neither do I. Because it means just about nothing at this point.
It's kind of funny how every year people expect things to be pretty much an exact continuation of the previous year, even though it just about never turns out that way.

You really think a gimped CoD title (and plus COD4 wasn't on Wii) and a new Madden title with the All Play cover would outsell their HD counterparts?

I was gonna say "they're probably going to show all the games Nintendo of America isn't going to bring over", but other people beat me to it. I'll just import anyways.
@Eternal Rain
dandancc covered part of it, but the rail shooters the Wii is getting are both spin offs of the actual games people were asking for in the first place. I don't want Dead Space, the "guided first person experience"; I want the intense action/horror game. At least Capcom, to they're credit, has a game that truly FEELS like a Resident Evil title; based on the video I watched this morning, the new one looks creepy and intense. Dead Space (based on the E3 demo video) looked rather boring and uninspired.
Also, Star Fox and Sin and Punishment were more "rail shooters" (if you stretch the genre) in their origins, so it's understandable (even desired, on my part) for them to excel in what they are.

@Eternal Rain
Oh, I got your point. It is just that people consider on-rails the same as lightgun, when technically it isn't.
I do it all the time, sorry.
I believe many like lightgun games too, but, like me, just think that series like RE and DS shouldn't be transformed into lightgun games. Just remember how almost everyone revered HotD Overkill. And it rocks.
@WiiFolder
Last year? After E3, in Japan, there were LOTS of games announced, like Cosmic Walker, Tact of Magic, Another Code 2, Dynamic Slash, Cave Story, S&P2, Endless Ocean 2 and more. They weren't even mentioned at E3.
Believing that the jp conference is going to be the exact same is beyond me, considering the different audience and all the games that launch there and not here.
@Tendonin
Means nothing, but opens up for speculation.
Videogame industry was always predictable. This changed only on the last few years - even then, it could mean it changed direction but will keep this "new way" for a long time, which would mean yet another s*** E3 for Nintendo with awesome post-E3 conference in Japan and all that jazz.
I remember when gamers used to say after mediocre Nintendo E3s: wait for Spaceworld! It just changed the event now.

I enjoy Star Fox games greatly.
I don't really enjoy games like RE:UC.
It can happen.
As for this news, I guess it's only fair for the Japanese consumers that they get a big event too, but I too am a little concerned that we're going to get crap and then they'll go to Japan and announce awesome stuff. :\

No offense (and I know I'm beating a dead horse now) if you want Dead Space, the third person action horror game, then buy a PS3, 360, or upgraqde your PC. I learned a long while ago that the Wii isn't going to get everything people keep asking for so I decided to remedy that by buying a 360 to go with my Wii. Now I'm quite content with my games. On the 360 I've already gotten to experience Dead Space in full, so now I want the lightgun experience Extraction is offering me, because the fact that it's very different from the original intrigues me (also, from what I've seen and read, this game could end up being one of my favorite lightgun games ever if the final product comes together just right).
I've also already experienced the non-scariness that was RE5, so now I want Darkside Chronicles to fill in what Umbrella Chronicles left out, and to provide me with an experience that not only is enjoyable, but feels a bit more old school RE than RE5 was (note: I do like RE5, but it didn't really feel a whole lot "like RE," whereas RE4 still had that RE feel to it despite the radically different story and new gameplay).
True, Star Fox and Sin and Punishment did start out that way, so I guess I was basically saying all of this stuff for nothing anyway (I own all Star Fox games and I downloaded Sin and Punishment from the VC recently, and now I'm eagerly awaiting their Wii entries).
(geez I need to get to bed, just why the heck am I still awake?)

In starfox and sinand punishment , you can MOVE !!! avoid bullets !!
and none of those game
1-started out as a successful fps on a different system
2-and then proudly announced to be ported to the wii ,
3-only to be nothing like the original game, but simply an outsourced mess
4-without even proper aiming , since you need so many bullets just to kill those enemies that always emerge in the same freaking way
yep wiiplay got more aiming in the duckhunt section than those crappy games got
oh yeah i went there!!

@internet
(going into hypocrite mode for a moment)
Only part I'll argue with you is, "without even proper aiming"? That didn't make any sense. What, do the reticules in all of these light games move around like the one in the original Red Steel? I had no trouble aiming in Umbrella Chronicles or Overkill; if you fail at aiming in a game like that then it's your fault, not the game's. I've been playing games like this for years, and while gun calibration is important, the fact of the matter is you need to have good aim yourself in order to succed.
I do apologize in advance if I simply misinterpreted your message, though (I'm sorry but the grammar in the sentence sounded off).

Whatever I guess. XD

STAY WITH US! E3 HYPE ALL THE WAY!
Ceph complemented my point. For someone that played the original, DSE could be cool, but those are not many. And I wouldn't buy a console for a couple of games... Luckily, I could play DS on PC. Pretty cool game, but I always wondering where the hell was my turn-the-aiming-reticule-to-use-the-cutter mechanic that only the Wii can offer...

Don't get too pumped, man... it is always dangerous... ALWAYS.

I'm thinking it will end up being bogus or it will be an even to show off what they showed at E3, but to the Japanese press.
Or it could be their next fall conference. Speaking of which. Many of you complain that the games announced at last year's fall presser haven't come out here. Since when did it mean that if its been 9 months since a game was announced that it won't be coming out anymore. Give it time. We may not see them all, but localization needs time. Japan hasn't even seen every one of those games released yet.
Either way...new games are coming. Whether they are announced before, during, or after e3...there will still be new games. If E3 is a bit of a bummer (which 3rd party speaking...its already rocking!), then we always can hold off hope that another fall conference may happen. Those usually have the goods.

Lol, it's late, I'm pretty sure more good E3 hype news won't be coming out until at least 12:00 PM tomorrow US eastern standard time.
I have a diverse taste in games so when I bought my 360 last summer I bought 10 games with it, and now the library has increased a good amount too (though it's still not as much as my Wii library of 35+ games). So yeah, I bought the 360 because it already had a very big selection of games for me to choose from, and I knew it was only gonna get bigger. Hell, if I had the money my Wii and 360 libraries would be freaking huge. I just love gaming, so... yeah.
Anyway, I've gone pretty off topic now (not like it matters; not like I'm gonna get banned for being off topic). I'll probably hit the hay soon (lol, never thought I'd use that expression).

Get some sleep! (that's where I'm going after this
)
I have all three consoles. My brother has Dead Space, I just haven't had time to steal it away for myself
. Aside from wanting traditional DS/RE with Wii aiming (side note: RE5 is HUGE fun multiplayer; but yeah, not scary), I'm just getting increasingly annoyed by the trends of "dumbing down" franchises to fit the "Wii market", from Dead Space/Resident Evil, to Tecmo's "Family Football" whatevernonsense it's called now.
And Sin and Punishment 2 still tops my WANT list. The anticipation brings nothing but excitement to my heart.

I'm sure Nintendo knows more about where their revenue comes from than some nobody on a fan site. And I love how each and every one of you takes these rumors as true ONLY because they paint a negative image of Nintendo.
Grow up, seriously

@Kirbylol
Which rumours? Those rumours don't paint anything, we are doing negative assumptions of a rumour, in case it is true.

Seems to me like E3 might hold an announcement of a hardware revision or something hardware-related. The Japanese conference would then also reveal the new hardware.
Just a thought.

Maybe they do a "Brawl" and show(case) some goodies later: The Legend of Zelda and F-Zero perhaps.
Maybe this event will be along the lines of Nintendo Media Summit or Nintendo World Tour. Whatever it is about, we have got an awesome E3 coming up in just two days (it starts actually May 31st).

Wii HD confirmed... lol
Nah, its probably just a press thing for people who didn't want to venture to E3.

If this is true, then e3 will suck. Badly.
I'm hoping that this is just a rumour, because I want to see all the good games and announcements coming at e3, and with all the wait, I think all of us deserve that instead of Wii Fit plus and some crappy casual games. I want at least one reallly good game for the actual gamers out there, and if this doesnt happen, i'll be a very disappointed person, especially because Nintendo SHOULD HAVE learned from their last e3 that you shouldnt base an event that is mainly watched by hardcore gamers, around casual games that us gamers don't want to see.
But Nintendo's third party line-up is already extremely impressive so I may be able to forgive them...

@Artistic_Anarchy
What could you possibly mean there? He says nothing about the way other people feel... 'speak for yourself' is if somebody says 'we all like throwing puppies down a mineshaft!'
Perhaps you meant 'take your own advice?'
And to all:
I really don't see how it is so hard for folks to see that, if true, its because nobody from Japan wants to leave with the swine flu epidemic. But I guess that's assuming that the types who complain about Nintendo's E3 read the news... which is a long shot! OOOOOH!

If this is true, it gives me a little hope that DQ10 may be showed. That alone would make my E3.
May 29, 2009 at 7:53 am
Well, I wasn't hyped before because of last year's conference. And this just made me any less hyped. Now I'm expecting a total s*** E3 Conference, and a Decent Japanese presser with games that are likely not to be brought to the US.

"I don't want Dead Space, the "guided first person experience"; I want the intense action/horror game."
If you want that then get a 360. :\

@Pinnacle
I don't think it'll be shown either way, if simply because DQIX isn't out yet...
@ttplayer92
s*** controls, just a handful of interesting games, prefer to expend money with more wii games, but still interested on the concept. blah blah blah. Does it need to be repeated every time?

Then get a pc. you can do anything with a pc.
Seriously, get a giant plasma screen HDTV, hook a PC with a brand new graphics card from nvidia or ati in it, and play dead space with the resolution set to max and the anti-aliasing set to max and detail and every single setting turned up all the way... watch how smoothly it runs! listen to that xfi sound (from an auzentech card of course, creative has horrible vista compatability!) coming at you from every angle... use a nice controller like the logitech wireless rumblepad 2 and forget why you EVER wanted a pcbox3stationy.
Especially when you can do actual stuff when you don't feel like playing a game.

as i've said before, e3 is our super bowl, our world series, if they don't nail it then, it becomes a moot point.
it's like a-rod hitting 5 home runs in one single game, all during winter ball. it's cool, but don't really mean much.
