May 29, 2009 by The News Team Filed Under: Wii

This news comes direct from Nintendo Power...

A portion of an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, the creator of Kingdom Hearts...

NP: Have you given any thought to bringing Kingdom Hearts to Wii in some form?

TN: Once the projects I am involved in have settled to a point, there might be some room to consider that. But at the moment, I've got my hands full.

------------------------------

A portion of an interview with Hideo Yoshizawa, creator of Klonoa...

NP: You've mentioned in previous interviews that you would love to work on a brand new Klonoa some day. Do you really have some ideas in mind for Klonoa 3?

HY: I'm always thinking about the scenario and new gameplay ideas, but it all depends on the sales of the new Wii game, so I can't say anything derivative.

Huge thanks to Jer for the heads up!

Like Tetsuya Nomura will actually do a Mainstream Title on the Wii...that'll be the day.
If anything we'll get a spin off game that will have hardly any substance while the more complete game goes on a Sony console, 'cause that's just how Nomura is with his fanboyism. Would be nice to see Square crack the whip on him.

Lets get the more superior Klonoa 2 on Wii before we worry about Klonoa 3.

I hope you REALLY think about KHI-III on the Wii, Nomura. Graphics aren't everything. Oh, and *waves WM+ in front of his face* ;-)

If they're depending on the sales of the Klonoa Wii Remake then there is no way we'll ever see a Klonoa 3 unfortunately.

KH on the Wii? Yes please.

As for Klonoa, I already got my copy so I did my part.

Nomura hates the SquareEnix president, before even FF13 was put on the 360 there was a huge fight because the president didn't like Nomura having pet projects.

After FF13 was announced for the 360, he flipped out because he had to do more work, but when all things considered, he just hates Microsoft.

Given the fact that the Wii is considered a kids toy, KH on Wii should be a no brainer, really

the wii simply isn't powerful enough to render the amount of zippers and belts in real-time that the kh franchise is built upon.

I was going to buy Klonoa anyway, but this guy isn't making the purchase any easier. I could care less about a third game, try something new.

The Grinder and The Conduit are prime examples. Oh, and if you want to do a sequel, make sure you do something like NMH:DS or Trauma Center. Or do what Resident Evil and Dead Space are doing and do something different with the franchise.

Wii is getting good games now and I'm not going to go for any more of this "teasing" or "we'll bring this if THIS game sells" mess. I'm buying games that take risks and that I find interesting, sorry.

I just beat Klonoa tonight. I would definitely be okay with getting more of it. It was absolutely worth it.

I actually just bought Klonoa two days ago and I love it; the claims of it being platforming perfection weren't far off, though I still wouldn't put it above Yoshi's Island. Definitely amazing though.

I'll play hypocrite here: As much as I "blah" about ports, I'm a little surprised/disappointed that the first two KH games haven't been re-released for the Wii. Both were fantastic titles.

Seriously, they need to find a way to bring some Kingdom Hearts action to the Wii, but I'm a little concerned about the game's future with Wayne Allwine gone.

Disney always has back-ups for their biggest characters. Like when Tigger's voice actor passed, and now Jim Cummings is doing it.

@MrBubbles

I was thrilled when I heard that he flipped a lid over the 360 port announcement. It hopefully showed Square-Enix's higher ups that to not always listen to him and do their thing (actually trying to damage control FF13 being made for the PS3). I kinda want FF14 to be a Wii exclusive just to see him die on the inside.

apparently nomura doesn't want , and the (incorrect)idea of non profitability is known widely spread in the industry, so i don't see any way kingdow hears will come to the wii.
And yeah even if it come it would either a spinoff, or far worse a "guided" "specific" "experience" , the usual PR bs .

I really don't see anyway for nintendo to ever get major third parties title . Increasing hardware spec sounds nice but really what would be different from the gamecube situation? They will still spout bs about the audience, or the presence of nintendo software.

@internet

They will either have to admit that the Wii is a valid platform to develop on, or enjoy their long and expensive development cycles (with forced multiplatform) with a high probability of financial failure. The Paradigm Shift is nearly complete and it's crunch time; will the 3rd parties adapt, or get lost in the pages of (gaming) history?

Bullshit. How would you know what Nomura does and does not want? Right, you don't.

So apparently MH3, DQ X, Tales of Graces, etc. aren't major?

That practically means that Kingdom Hearts III isn't being developed on Wii, I suppose. Not that this surprise me. Either way, I don't care. Even a spin-off, or a remake, would be perfectly fine! ;)

@Ash_Pokemaster

That's exactly what I read into it as. At least KH3 is not being worked on for the Wii. Which means PS3 and possibly the 360. Unless they aren't working on KH3 at all, but I highly doubt they'd let the core franchise sit idle much longer.

One can still hope and beg, i guess.

I want to play KH3 on the Wii with WM+!

Psh. Nobody's too busy to consider something. It's the matter of actually working on it that is influenced by busy-ness.

He's not totally opposed to Nintendo platforms. After all, he did a lot of work on TWEWY. But it's obvious he prefers Sony.

I'm certain this just confirms KH3 hasn't even begun development yet. Which is good, because they need to focus on first things first, AKA getting the potable games out.

Actually, I think KH3 would come out on 360 before Wii.

Also for that Klonoa 3, I really want that to come out cuz we never find out what world Klonoa is from. Maybe if they actually advertised it it would sell. -_-'

I have no problem with KH hitting the Wii, but I certainly won't play it. I know a lot of people love the series and that's why I'd be happy, but at the same time I can't understand for the life of me why they love it. The gameplay is incredibly repetitive and booooring (especially in KH2), the story is the very definition of convoluted, the FF character designs are Nomura-chic (or in other words, terrible), their personalities are the suck, etc.

Just watch it'll be Kingdom Hearts I + II on the Wii.

Well actually, if it were the Final Mix version of those games then I wouldn't mind since those never came to the US.

Square Enix can kiss my ass. They haven't released ONE original DECENT IP on the Wii. All Wii gets is side story games and DS gets remake after remake. Seriously Square, F U.

Square is in bed with Sony, obviously.

And no, just because DQIX is coming to the DS don't mean squat.

I truly hope Square Enix is enjoying paying those high development costs on PS3.

Well, there goes the chances of Klonoa 3, unfortunately. Sigh...

KH3 on Wii would be cool, but KH2 made me lose faith in the series. Maybe 358/2 Days will give me more confidence though... we'll see.

@ryan82

um, remakes like ff3 and 4 that they put a ton of work into, and games like the world ends with you, rocket slime, chocobo tales, dragon quest monsters joker, ffxii revenant wings, tactics a2, two crystal chronicles games, a valkyrie profile game, 2 front mission games, 2 mana games, and yeah dragon quest ix on ds means a lot. um yeah F U Square you hate nintendo?

The amount of games Square Enix is developing for PS3 is miniscule when compared to other major 3rd parties. They also have more games on the 360 than they do the ps3.

They are pretty far removed from the days of loving sony, i'd say.

I think a better way to put it is that perhaps not so much the game I'm worried about, but more Mickey Mouse's voice.

Like Kermit the Frog when Jim Henson passed, it's close, but you notice the difference anyway.

I wonder why people are saying that Klonoa failed. As far as I know, we just got the number for early sales (broken street sales). Those were 1k, for a game with limited distribution, which is great as far as I know. Besides, Wii sales were never frontloaded, and people are already judging sales by the sales' number of units that shouldn't have been sold?
Correct me if I'm completely wrong.

I don't get why people love KH too. I do think that it fits the Wii perfectly in many levels, though.
