That kids voice made me want to stab my ears. Imagine hearing that for hours at a time. And the worst part is that the blob just wanders around taking his sweet time. Hopefully it whistles most of the time
From the hands on: "a whopping 80 levels." Oh my gosh that is some win right there. This is a game that shows what made old school platforming fun, and that it is still great today. The graphics are gorgeous, the music sounds just great, and the characters are already looking pretty likable (hugging the blob = probably the most adorable thing I've seen in a video game). Man I so want this game!

A bit harsh don't ya think? Okay sure I get what you mean, but I thought it wasn't as bad as you just said it (the only things that make me wanna stab my ears are the usual annoying noises like nails on chalkboard and styrofoam rubbing together). I think the developers will probably put in an option to turn voices off if you want (since most games usually have the option nowadays to turn down music, sound effects, and voices).
Yeah, as good as it looks and it does look good... the boy constantly stopping to call back to the blob will get annoying after a couple of hours. Actually, it got annoying just watching those 4 videos.
yea it seems like the way Blob follows you is really annoying because you have to keep calling him...that could be a MAJOR factor for not playing through the whole game, especially with how long they are saying the adventure takes. The art style, however is absolutely stunning. Wii games lately have the best art direction on any console over any game....except for maybe Prince of Persia on 360/PS3
Just saying, I don't have a big issue with the whole "having to call the blob" thing. I don't know, for some reason I really don't see that as being a bother to me (maybe I got used to it from some old game? Don't know, I can't seem to recall).
Man, what a beautiful game. This one, along with Muramasa, are defining games when it comes to art. I really can't wait for late 2009 for this game to be released.
Though, I do have to say, the "Blobbb!!!" that the boy always says will definitely get annoying. It's not that his voice is particularly cringe worthy, it's just going to get old quick. I also hope they change it so you don't have to call your blob back every time. And if they don't hopefully they can resort to just a whistle (most of the time).
Still, the game looks stunning, and I really want to play it.
See I feel different. The way he says it has a sort of innocence to it. How else should a 7 to 9 year old kid sound. Who else would a kid call his pet. Remember Timmy and "Lassie!" Oh Lassie!
My only gripe is they need to fix the animation of when the the blob turns into a hole and things fall through it. I know it's petty, but it makes it a little more "believable" maybe? The object should pass through it, not in front of it. Anyways, like I said looks awesome, i've been keeping an eye on this. So many games so little time.
The game looks fantastic. Artistic and gorgeous indeed. But.... the gameplay seems a tad bit boring to me. Am I missing out on what the fuss is all about when it comes to this game? Someone fill me in, because I honestly don't know why this game is getting so much attention.
I wish that the Blob were quicker so we don't have to hear the boy calling for him/her/it all the time! But the games visuals is fantastic! I will try this game as soon as possible.
Well I agree that the kid's voice is good. He sounds like an eight year old and everything. But the way he says it is terrible. It's like he hates the blob and stretches out the "o" part on "blob" a little too long. It is a little too high pitched even for an eight year old boy
Story Feedback
Seriously, if Wii developers just went totally old-school, and made nothing but 2D and pseudo 2D games, I'd be thrilled.
This, Muramasa, and Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom show that 2D can definitely holds its own with the heavyweights.

Good stuff though.
I agree, that kid yelling "Blobbb!" all the time is gonna get old REAL fast! Other than that, the game looks incredible!
I have to agree it just works so well.
I can't believe that you stole the avatar that I personally made just for use on this site. How lame.
Go get (or make) your own. I made this one myself to go with my username...it's not hard.
About the game, just beautifull. I agree with dreadpirate.. If devs. decided to go back to 2d I'd be thrilled.
But the kid's voice is kind of annoying.

and holy god at the grinder. high levels of intensity, impressive framerate, massive gore.

Oh Lassie!
Are you not familiar with this series? Give me a break people.
:-/
Game looks amazing, when he yells for the blob, its so adorable haha. Can't wait!
Game looks good, but I'm probably going to play with the sound off.

Blob will follow you normally, you don't always have to call it. You only need to call it when it's like way way away.
This is all an assumption though.
So cute.
It just doesn't seem fun to me.
I was a big fan of the old one on NES.
I wish the kid would just whistle all the time though, his voice is kinda annoying...
Some people like calm and relaxing puzzles games, y'know. Just saying.
@Fatal Frame Fanboy
I agree! It's just so cute, his screams an' all. Plus... the hug!

As long as they have a few calls like a whistle (which has already been shown), a clap and maybe something else, it should be fine.
