“…The only other thing I will say though, is Miyamoto is going to be announcing something. We’re meeting with them during the show for an interview so I’m going to pretty much speculate that something’s going on with him. Either Mario or Zelda. Or he could be talking about the next Pikmin game which is also rumored…I still think there’s going to be a new Zelda.” - Director of Gaming Editorial on G4TV.com, Billy Berghammer

Miyamoto is going to be talking about something at the show...I mean, he's not coming just to hang out! Is it going to be this mysterious Mario game that the Japanese press is talking about?

can't be a zelda , might be a mario(please!) , even of it exist i 'll go with pikmin3
and then magically pikmin will become the most casual franchise ever

I don't remember if pikmin was a kiddy title, back in the days where kiddy was used instead of casual

seriously, is miyamoto announcing something a surprise? he's been there every year, showing off his latest game, this year will be no different. the only thing that might be different is that we actually like the game he talks about this time ...

I honestly dont think this Mario game will be a platformer but Mario Party 9 and therefore nothing too get hyped up about but I think Miyamoto will proably be talking about Pikmin 3 alot.

However Pikmin 3 has already been announced but its too soon for a new Mario platformer to come out and Nintendo no longer announces games two years in advance any more.

Maybe Zelda? I still think that there shouldnt be another Zelda until next year atleast. I hope he will announce a new IP that can be considered hardcore/core/not going to interest the average grand/parent.

I thought it was last E3? W/e I guess it wasnt really official and more like Miyamoto trying to save the disaster known as E3 08.

As mentioned on the pre-E3 Nintendo Voice Chat podcast (in response to a reader question), it's probably going to be an old idea of Miyamoto's named, "Marionette", where you create and manipulate marionette characters. Miyamoto will come out on stage with dual Wii MotionPlus controllers and dance around on stage as a puppeteer. They could totally see it happening but, of course just one more item to add to the list.

It'll be something like Mario Paint. People will be thrilled, God knows why. You'll shake your remote to fill up regions with primary colors, and at the end Mario shows up to bounce across the screen. Miyamoto will show up with four artist interns, and they'll all stand there shaking remotes and squirting an imaginary colored fluid at a giant screen for 20 minutes.

But because Mario's involved, the "Nintendo hardcore" will be thrilled. And I'll finally just get a PS3 and play Sony's first party action platformers that come out every year, not once every four years.

The disappointement is going to be so massive .Why does the nikkei have to play such an evil joke on us ? It's so easy to rationalize it !

but i'll be glad for the marionette thing, but honestly could it not be done with the simple wiimote?
AFAIK , tilting world mechanism are by far the most precise gameplay with the wiimote(kororinpa..). So..

still hoping, despite all odds

@internet
Because it would be a stupid game only with tilting. You'd be making the marionette flail around, and that's all.
With WMP, you can make the marionette go to the sides, or rotate the remote for different effects. It just expand the concept from a number of limited gameplay options to a limitless game.

To everyone that said that he announces something every year; no, he actually doesn't. And I won't go too far. Last year he announced nothing. Wii Music was something we knew about every since the release of Wii, not to mention that in previous conferences, footage was also shown, before E3, that is.

I'm pretty sure that it will be a new Mario, and I would bet on a DS one. Probably New Super Mario Bros. 2, considering that Mario hasn't got a new game for a pretty long time, and Zelda Spirit Tracks is actually on way. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda Wii was (also) announced. But I wouldn't base my hopes on that, since there's also TGS we may have to wait for.

As for Pikmin 3, I really doubt it, unfortunately. The fact that they rereleased the first two means that that's they're plans for the franchise for the time being. I mean, seriously, some Pikmin fans got their dose, while new fans tried out the game, with some of them not liking it. The second category wouldn't buy Pikmin 3, and if Nintendo released it right now, it would be a pretty bad move.

Of course, I hope that I will be wrong.

It better be Zelda. I could care less about ANOTHER Mario (honestly; I like the new ones, but it is only the 2-d ones that I get excited for) and Pikmin (It's really fun but not GREAT). There has yet to be a Wii Zelda (TP DOES NOT COUNT b/c it was a gc game) and it has been soooo many years since they announced TP. Plus, Spirit Tracks does not count because ever since they casualized the 2-d Zeldas they have not been AS fun or memorable.

I love Mario and Zelda. ANd I want a new Pikmin. But really, what I most want is a new IP, but is sorta like Pikmin. Where Miyamoto picks a hobby and just makes some abstact, weird game based on it, yet it is awesome.

I am not getting aboard this hype train because if a hype train gets going too fast, you'll probably miss your stop.

No, thank you. I'll just assume Miyamoto is there to shake hands and take pictures. If he mentions anything game related, it's a bonus.

When is the Nintendo conference again? I need to know this. I've been exempt from my final exams so I can watch this from start to finish!

EDIT: Just read Munny's comment. I think I'd be interested in something like Wii Japanese. It would make learning the language more fun somehow. I'm also considering getting my Japanese coach for the DS.

I just saw the MS conference, and this comes from a MS hater (Xbox brand - broken piece of shooter crap): Myamoto HAS to go on stage if they even think about maybe reaching the greatness that MS conference reached.
Except for Halo, everything seemed at least interesting, and almost everything looked ground-breaking and fun.
