Now they've got be wearing my hype running shoes. (I'm still not gonna get a ticket for the hype train just yet.) Let us see...

@Bentendo

At the time of posting this, that'd be in 1 hour and 30 minutes (it's currently 11:30 AM EST).

@Blk_Mage_Ctype

I doubt it's gonna be Retro announcing Prime Trilogy since we already know about it (I'm pretty sure the guys at Retro are very aware that IGN already unveiled it, since IGN is a big name website).

You guys seem to be forgetting that Nintendo owns Retro Studios... it's impossible for them to partner with Microsoft.

@KillerHeroes

I thought Metroid Dread never really existed. Wasn't it nothing more but a rumor that was only kept alive by the fans yearning for a new 2D Metroid? (I just saying.) I mean, I'd love a new 2D Metroid as much as the next guy, but I have a feeling that if another Metroid game is announced anytime soon it's not gonna be done by Retro (they said that after finishing up Prime 3 they want to take a break from the series, and I'm not sure if we can really say Prime Trilogy is any sort of indication that break is over).

@Tagg

This guy speaks the truth. Nintendo owns Retro completely so it wouldn't be like what happened to Rare (the Stamper brothers owned 51% of Rare and they sold it to Microsoft when some problems arose, which effectively made them a Microsoft owned company just buy how much of the company Microsoft owned, so Nintendo later sold their 49% of Rare to Microsoft since they figured it's be kinda useless since Rare couldn't develop for their home consoles anymore [now Rare can only develop for Nintendo's handhelds]). Only way Microsoft will ever own Retro would be if Retro did something to tick off Iwata badly enough to sell them, but I don't see that ever happening since Iwata is a bit more level headed than Yamaguchi.

It's 10:50 over here, I'm not sure if that's Central time or what. It's Texan time :)
So I think the IGN update should be up in just over an hour.

Also, going by Matt's choice of words: "exclusive" "we think you'll like it", it probably means it is a new game. Or Red Steel 2 because we haven't had a hands-on with that game since it was announced.

What do you think?

I don't think it's going to be a Metroid game.

And Metroid Dread DID exist. Atleast that is what I choose to believe. I think everyone should have a belief system of some sort, and Metroid Dread is mine. Developed as god intended by the remnants of R&D1.

I don't know. It was something I'd like to hear.

Of course it probably isn't even Metroid related. But "pleasently surprised" doesn't sound like a whole new title to me, so maybe it is some Metroid variation.
