June 5, 2009 by Deux Michaels Filed Under: GoNintendo Updates

The folks at bitmob.com noted Miyamoto, Bill Trinen, and other Nintendo officials taking a personal tour of Project Natal, but didn't get to see any reactions:

Wonder if he broke out in a sweat from jumping around in front of the camera -- or from seeing what it's capable of.

heh heh funny.

Actually Miyamoto ALWAYS checks out Sony & Microsoft stuff at E3. This is no different.

I personally wonder if it totally wigged out for him like it did on stage and made his on screen character break every limb in it's body.

Watching the gaming press is like watching the kid in kindergarten trying to piss everyone off, like he constantly goes up to anyone with anything and says MY THING IS BETTER.

It's like everyone is surprised that 3 years after the advent of the Wii, there would be - gasp - *better* technology. Wow. I'd like to think your tech WOULD be more advanced.

It's like a company who makes a bigger hard drive traveling back in time to make fun of those with smaller ones back in the day.

Meanwhile, absolutely none of them want to admit that resorting to motion tech is pretty much throwing up a white flag at this point, signaling that Nintendo's direction was a good one to take.

I kinda wish it was a week ago, where everyone hated motion and constantly denounced the Wii, instead of now pretending it was invented this week. Congrats, guys. Really. You were pissants then and you're pissants now, desperately trying to maintain a facade of manly manliness in the face of a small white box kicking your ass.

i dont think miyamoto even thought that deeply about it. he probably owns all the systems and just wanted to see if its cool or not. i personally think its kinda dumb but will reserve total judgment for when they show us a acctual game to play on it.

check out and rate my punchout!! videos please: http://www.youtube.com/vashtheninja

I'll never understand the anger some of you seem to get from fanboys of other consoles. Why do we need to be fighting? Couldn't we just ignore their rants? Eh. Owning a Wii and a 360 has just made me ambivalent to console war debates I guess. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, and some people just enjoy one over the other. Nothing wrong with that, and no reason to get upset.

I think it's funny how so many journalists expect Nintendo to feel threatened by Sony and Microsoft's motion controllers. As if Nintendo wasn't way ahead of the game with successfully deployed products and full software support while Sony and Microsoft scramble to catch up.

Why would Nintendo break a sweat? They've been running the race for three years while Sony and Microsoft are just now warming up at the starting line.

Okay, whatever. I figured it could be considered spamming, but I guess it's not a big deal. My apologies.

Great post.

Although, I don't see how Sony's could be "better" (with Nintendo having motion plus). Excellent last 2 paragraphs.

Of course he checked it out. The bigwigs at Nintendo always go and check out what everyone has on offer. E3 is a celebration of gaming (and a business expo to get people on board with your products, but that's a different post). Miyamoto isn't going to ignore MS and Sony because they are bringing competing technolgies to the market.

If anything, he and Nintendo will embrace it because it validates their direction. It also slaps all the 360 and PS3 fanboys in the face and says, thanks for bashing motion controls for 3 years in defence of our companies, but sorry to tell you guys, we're doing motion controls too!

And now, like ZS said, all the angry fanboys have now become hypocritical fanboys, because now they LOVE motion controls. Lol.

Personally, I'm excited to see what comes out of the different products. Project Natal at this point does not seem like my thing, but I will reserve judgement until some actual games are shown and the tech is improved somewhat. To me, it is just a glorified eyetoy which I got about 20 minutes of fun out of on my PS2. As for Sony's controller, I don't own a PS3 (just a Wii and 360 as far as this-gen consoles go), but I'm also taking a wait and see approach to their controller. Who knows?...Maybe it will convince me that I want a PS3 when I see some compelling software that supports it.

Motion control is becoming red ocean, which actually gets me excited. Now we know Nintendo is going to try changing it up next generation (well...that is if 360/PS3 motion control takes off).

... and then laughed on his insides. "LOL, luzars!"

I kid, I kid. XD

I am sure he conveyed how happy he was that he inspired them, again. Leading the way is fun. Keep following along Microsoft.

I'm pretty sure that Nintendo already has things plotted out for the next couple of consoles. And whatever new thing they have under wraps will be put together with existing technology to ensure a fair price for all consumers.

that's something the competition really needs to consider.

I would say MS was not inspired by Nintendo considering how different Natal is.

But keep claiming they're copying, it's fine, it's not like THAT much bias is showing.

"I would say MS was not inspired by Nintendo considering how different Natal is."

yep. from what the journalists are saying. MS totally copied minority report, but saying that makes me bias so whatev.

Natal is more like the eye toy, and Sony motion controller is more like wiimote with motion plus, and the eye toy.

Yea I could see Microsoft didn't copy nintendo, but they copy Sony. And why so many people on this site are hating on journalists?

And also no one see that nintendo see this as an problem? I don't care what Miyamoto said about sony, or Microsoft. Miyamoto will not ever say that nintendo see this as an threat openly/publicly. That's making your company look bad. Common Sense People

*Sigh*

Natal is more of a counter to Sony than to Nintendo. It won't matter though, as both Sony and Microsoft will fail.
