June 15, 2009 by The News Team Filed Under: DS, Nintendo in general, DSi

Wow, still trucking along with those old games to promote new hardware! I've never seen anything like this before. I mean, the strategy works extremely well for The Big N, so I guess I can't fault them.

Nintendo doesn't exactly have a lot of new stuff to promote on the DS lately.

From a business standpoint it makes sense. I mean show that some of your biggest selling DS games are available on the DSi.

My problem is that, it doesn't show off differences between the DSi and the DS. Also, when will we get full games that take advantage of the DSi's unique features.

The oldman was once on the sitcom Martin (with Martin Lawrence). He played Martin's boss. In addtion to that, he played on the Jamie Foxx Show as Foxx's uncle. He also use to do stand up comedy.

The father in this commercial was is currently in another commercial for Verizon Wireless (they guy who poors all the sprinkles on the counter to represent the number of people in Verizon's network).

Nintendo does this because they are smart. Not only will it help sell hardware, it will continue selling their 'evergreen' titles.

The reason why they are evergreen is because Nintendo pushes them for years after their release. Why no other company tried this before it beyond me, anf why people haven't caught onto Nintendo immense success with these titles and tried it for themselves is also hard to figure out.

Nintendo has become marketing geniuses.

What's this? Tyler Perry's Madea Directs Nintendo DS commercials???

Nintendo of America really needs to stop promoting their 2005 games. And they really need to add some fresh colors already! That "color wheel" is just fugly as hell!

The commercial that takes place on the plane is EXACTLY like the PSP commercial that Sony put out about a year ago...not very likely of Nintendo to copy the competition like that

@Hawk

Rhythm Heaven, Starfy, Pokemon Platinum? They have newer stuff, but that isn't the point of these commercials. There are lots of new DSi owners and Nintendo wants them try out two titles that have been a big hit with other DS owners. MKDS is a great time and lots of people haven't played it yet.

@Hawk

Guess you haven't seen them pushing the said games that Motoki said? I am seeing Starfy commercials all the time. I am seeing Rhythm Heaven on the TVs in line at Wal-Mart for gosh sakes.

I guess I can understand someone saying something about the Wii, but not DS.

The old man is Garrett Morris. For you youngsters, he was the first black actor on the original Saturday Night Live in the 1970s. So, to people my age and older, he IS a famous actor. ;)
