"House of the Dead: Overkill was a profitable title for us. Whilst it had a rather sharp tail at full price, they do bubble away at a lower price point for a long time. You get your money back and a bit on full price, but over the years, if we do the final product return on investment, profits come from the lower price point. You have to push boundaries and explore. I think whilst MadWorld commercially didn't sell what we were expecting I wouldn't say it's game over for mature Wii titles from Sega. We're taking a look at the resources we have now. We've got money to invest in development, we're just considering where to invest it next." - Gary Dunn, MD of European development for Sega

Hey SEGA, I hear that High Voltage has some other Mature-themed Wii titles in the works. I think you guys have a good relationship...perhaps you should talk to them!

Sounds good!

Though, I am against M games, bring on anything like The Conduit, and I'll be happy to buy.

Good news.

Overkill 2 plz! (I say that because those who have played the game know it's bound to happen; they ended on a cliffhanger, and Sega just said the game sold well enough to be profitable.) I would also like to see them release the original House of the Dead on VC Arcade if it's possible.

I'd like to see a genuinely mature title, you know, what that deals with genuinely deep and disturbing issues. That'd be great.

Condemned. Bring Condemned to Wii. Port, on-rails, midquel (between 1 & 2), sequel, prequel, side-story, who cares. Make it happen.

The Wii needs more hobo bludgeoning games.

EDIT: Actually, Condemned would be great for Wii Motion+. Not for gunplay (though it would definitely benefit from better precision), but for the melee attacks.

I'd love a sequel to Madworld but it seems unlikely.

Conduit 2 is bound to happen, and I can't wait!

@MoldyClay

Yes! I was just thinking a few days ago that Condemned with Motion+ would be awesome!

@Stryks

I just beat The Conduit's single player yesterday, and yep it's bound to happen eventually. It ends on a cliffhanger with plenty of things left unresolved. I wonder if the next game will continue to have those scattered radios and TVs that give you more story information.

Prediction for E3 2010: "Coming in summer 2011, The Conduit 2! The conspiracy continues..."

I hope that Sega are as smart as I think they are, Overkill did about as much as it could have done anywhere and it is still going.

MadWorld is the same, just look at God Hand on the PS2 in comparison. Once again, still going.

Make the kinds of games that would actually sell well on other systems, they don't cost you anywhere near as much to do on the Wii.

@Chosenoneknuckles

Guess they could if they made a deal with Crytek. I know Eidos published the first two games, and EA published Future Perfect.

They never promised a SoA2...? Or if they did, then its in the same boat as any Shenmue game coming out ever. :-(

It's not that Mature games don't sell. It's just that these arent the same style of Mature games that people really want. To be honest MadWorld would've been better as a WiiWare game...

But anyway they shouldn't think of this as "How to give us a M rated experience" they should think of it as "How to give us a fun long lasting experience".

If the Conduit sells well, I guaranty that Sega will publish The Grinder(that is if HVS wants it that way).

What defines a mature title though? M rating or are they speaking of more realistic / gritty titles?

Good to hear. I enjoyed both MadWorld and House of the Dead, so I'd love to see more "Mature" Wii games from SEGA.

Personally, I think Sega would do a bit better on the Wii if they turned the "hardcore" down a little and go for solid T-rated titles. I think both HotD: Overkill and MadWorld could've sold even better if they weren't so blatantly flaunting their M-rating -- since the Wii is a family-room console, it's harder to sell non-family-friendly games on it.

And in that vein, here's looking forward to The Conduit 2... :)
