controls "not as horrible as you might think"? "still doesn't compare to vanilla dual analog control"? "shaky control scheme"?

CHRIST! People like this CLEARLY don't have enough time put in to Wii gaming, and are probably sloppy/clumsy/lazy tards when it comes to handling the wiimote

can't stand crap like this, from probably the most widely distributed/read gaming mag in NA.

GAH!!!

The control is less horrible than you might fear. However, it falls well short of a vanilla dual analog scheme – not to mention mouse and keyboard

Dual analog control became inferior on consoles in 2007. Where have they been?

"still doesn't compare to vanilla dual analog control"

Seriously? I prefer The Conduit's controls over dual analogs ANY day.

Not to sound like a fanboy, but I can't find myself liking the dual analog as much as mouse/keyboard (best) and Wiimote/nunchuck.

I was also a little taken about by the control comments. "Not as horrible as you might think" doesn't suggest that they went in with an open mind, and "still doesn't compare to vanilla dual analog control" is very debatable, because I know a lot of people, myself included, prefer the pointer.

Obnoxious reviewer filled with preconceived thoughts, the crap is that this will end up on metacritic as well.

Not to say that only good reviews should appear for the conduit, but this kind of thing is not journalism, is fanboy rant.

Holy crap, do they not know you can fix the shaky cursor by customize it? I swear. Nah, I'll stop there. The game is far from perfect, but what it accomplished, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I, personally, will give the game an 8.

Also, I don't get how they could be complaining about it not being as good as mouse/keyboard. Isn't Dual Analog also considered inferior to mouse/keyboards too?

Might as well complain about that on every other console FPS games.

"If the Wii is the only platform available to you, The Conduit is an acceptable FPS. Those of us who have spent any time with the genre since the turn of the millennium have no reason to pick this up."

Stopped reading there. Game "Elite Beat Agents and Paper Mario 2 are only worth a 6" Informer is such an awful magazine.

Mouse and keyboard > Wiimote > dual analog.

I'm NOT saying dual analog is bad, but I find keyboard + mouse and Wiimote better when it comes to controlling first person games, ESPECIALLY when done just right like in The Conduit.

This guy might have rushed his review or something because it doesn't really sound like he tested all of the control options.

@AdolRed

The ONLY, I repeat ONLY, good thing about GI is they have been known to get good exclusives on occasion. BioShock 2 being one of them, but I hate their review process and they tend to put quite a lot of biased opinions into their news reports. It got to the point where I was like "screw this, Nintendo Power is less biased than this, and they report only on Nintendo related stuff!"

i own a 360 and a wii, and don't own ANY first person shooters on the 360 because i hate dual analog for FPS.
on the other hand, i own several FPS on the wii.

people are nuts if they think FPS controls on the wii are worse than dual analog. this coming from someone that owns more than just the wii

It matters of oppinion, there are a few people (I know a couple) who prefer dual analog to mouse and keyboard, and I think the case applies wth this, some people will prefer dual analog to pointer controls.

Anyway, here the Wii should have the natural advantage, since it have both controls types (pointer and dual analog with the gamecube and classic controller compatibility), problem is, that versatility is not exploited to the 100% ignoring the dual analog posibility in most games, so they can't avoid losing a minority of people who still cling to dual analog controls for a FPS.

I figure a lot of these reviewers don't actually play the Wii games they review. It's almost criminal that after the Wiimote's pointer has been proven to be very accurate for FPS gameplay by MOH, MP3, & now the Conduit that these reviewers still try to claim otherwise. They obviously lack the dexterity to simply point at the screen, or are still afraid of anything that doesn't have two thumbsticks.

Also you can tell how ignorant a lot of reviewers are about the Wii's controls when they keep referring to the pointer aiming as motion sensing. In the Conduit's case a lot of them complain about some part of the control scheme they don't like and don't even attempt to customize the damn controls.

For god's sake, this is exactly why you can't listen to most mainstream gaming outlets when it comes to Wii! These people have no f-ing idea what they're talking about. IR DESTROYS DUAL ANALONG, period.

Horrible review from an already terrible mag.

Jesus Christ!I don't know why people keep on saying that Keyboard/mouse is better than Wiimote/nunchuck!!!The worst option is the keyboard/mouse one!!Are you guys serious??Moving characters by f***ing pressing buttons??How fake does that feel??Aiming with the mouse???Extremely fake!At least, when using the dual analog sticks,it feels like you're operating a machine! With the keyboard and mouse,I feel like I'm a 3yo kid who is drawing a picture...And a pretty bad one, too!YIKES!

Wiimote/nunchuck -> dual analog sticks -> everything else that we might see in the future -> keyboard/mouse
