"The global recession served to benefit Nintendo at its competitors' expense. ...Expect most consumers to defer purchasing a PS3 or an Xbox 360 until they have purchased an HD monitor." - Wedbush Morgan analyst, Michael Pachter
Well, it's true that if you want to play games on the 360/PS3, you're going to be spending more money right out of the box. At least console adoption rates are going well! Pachter has crunched some numbers, and mixed those in with a healthy dose of speculation.
- From 2005 through 2008, (Wii, PS3 and 360) have sold 78 million units
- From 2000 through 2003, (GameCube, PS2 and Xbox) have sold 78–79 million units
- By the end of 2009, predictions of 115 million units sold would beat out the 104 million units sold by the end of 2004
- By the end of 2011, predictions of 186 million units sold would beat out the 138 million units sold by the end of 2006

I don't understand. Isn't the Wii selling better than the PS2, the 360 selling better than the Xbox and the PS3 selling as the Gamecube? If so, why added sales are smaller?
