“I love him (Travis), and I want him to be a huge star. That’s why I’m working very hard to make this game as interesting as possible. Maybe in the future, we can see him fighting alongside Link in the next Smash Bros. [laughs] That would be great.” - Suda51

I wonder if Nintendo would allow something like that. I think Travis is a bit too mature for a game like Smash Bros., but you never know! Suda has a long time to plead his case!

Well hey if Snake, also from an M rated game series, could be in Smash Bros. then I don't see why Travis can't. Sure he probably won't be allowed to cuss or sever limbs (it'd be "mild version" Travis :P ) but it'd be awesoem ot see him in Smash Bros. Also, I literally just finished reading the NMH2 story in Nintendo Power. :P (I got the issue yesterday.)

yeah, hopefully Travis stays on Nintendo while if NMH branches off to other platforms, they get a different protagonist.
I'm just sayin'

If they can put snake in there, Travis should be fine as well. Even though he's more crass than Snake. They'll just have to tone him down some and keep his personality in check... Seeing how he would react with all the female smashers would be hilarious though. (*shwing!* OH YEAH!)

If Snake is in, anything can happen.

@YoshiUnity

Travis gets his first look at Zero-suit Samus. What do you think he'd do? Never plyed the first one, but considering it, and in I read the NMH2 article in NP and it said that he has a weakness for attractive women.

@Eternal Rain

His moves don't have to be altered, they just won't have the same effect.

Think about it.. Just one swing from Ike's sword would slice Bowser's shell in half.

I'm not a huge fan of third party characters in Brawl, Snake has very little reason to be in the game.

Travis could work, after a bit of adjusting.

Keep the franchise Wii-bound and it would be welcome.

He'll try to do everything except introducing himself, Dude. EVERYTHING!

But knowing Samus, she wouldn't let him come close her, because he's not Master Chief.*ba-dum... tsh!* Then he might try to make a move on Zelda and Peach. And however else is added in 4.

And I don't see Travis as too mature for SSB. He is just as mature as Snake.

Suda51 recently stated that the next No More Heroes after Desperate Struggle probably won't be on Wii.... probably the Xbox360. Can't blame him, it's nice to see people buy the games you make.

But on the subject of Smash Bros, I have a feeling there are only two options for a future Smash Bros game:
A: Overhaul the system drastically.
B: Keep the system as-is but make the next game's defining feature a generous mix of characters from non-Nintendo properties (Megaman, Lara Croft, Jill Valentine, etc.)

I don't think players will tolerate another half-step up from the previous game.

It would be pretty cool. Admittedly, I don't play too many games like No More Heroes, but Travis seems pretty cool to play as.

Like everyone else said, if we can get Snake, whose from a game filled with blood, male magazines, and sex, can't we get Travis?

If No More Heroes stays on Nintendo platforms, no problem with him being in the next one.

If No More Heroes got on another platform, then sorry no dice.

There is a larger candidate list for Nintendo exclusive 3rd party franchises than Travis. He kills his own chances if he goes to Ps3 and 360.

And don't mention Snake, por favor. We just got lucky Sakurai and Kojima were buds.

For example, I would love to see Professor Layton take his place because he's exclusive to Nintendo platform, otherwise Smash Bros wouldn't be what it is. Making a few exceptions is A-OK, going out of the way just to please Suda51 for being greedy is a bit too much to ask.

Getting NMH into a franchise is no big deal, even if it goes to other platforms. Expecting Smash Bros to welcome Travis with open arms is a different story.

This is what I would've liked in Brawl, but if there's gonna be a Smash game in the future with this idea, then i'm defintely going to be paitent. ^_^

Hmmm...I wouldn't mind him being in but I forgot all his special moves.

I think his final smash should be where he turns into Darkside Travis and any opponents he gets near he'll have the slash direction arrow show up and you gotta push the c-stick in that direction with the GC controller or slash with the Wiimote.

I think a lot of the people here are forgetting that Masahiro Sakurai and Goichi Suda are actually friends, similar to the relationship held by Sakurai and Hideo Kojima. Sakurai and Suda talked on stage together at the Foreign Video Game Unlawful Assembly 2K8, and various other events as well. For the same reasons that Snake made it into Brawl, I think the chances of Travis making it into any future Smash Bros. game are actually on par.

Even if it might not be for a long while...

Ha. Good one. Like the next Pokemon generation will be the last Pokemon game ever made too right?

I'd welcome Travis. I still have yet to play NMH, but I hope to borrow it from a friend soon if I don't see it for cheap somewhere. Hm, with Gamestop lowering prices though- maybe I should go see what's on sale.

Dual-wielding beam sword Travis, anyone? lol. That could add so much to his moveset potential.

Wasn't there also fanart somewhere when someone combined Kirby and Travis?

@MrBubbles

What the hell is the problem with having 3rd party characters? All it does is let you have more and more possibilities for cool match ups. Even Mario and Link aren't exclusive to Nintendo platforms if you want to get all elitist about it, CDi remember?
@ArakniD

STFU b****. What the hell is Olimar? 2 games and now he has history?Or Ice Climbers? They have 1 game! Travis is probably my favourite video game protagonist in recent memory and just because you don't like him doesn't mean he's badly designed. If anything, he's probably deeper than most characters to date.

Also, his taunt should be him "charging" his beam kantana XD

I am just hoping that there will be a SSB and if it is, stay true to its roots. Brawl didn't feel like it was a good ending to the series, it felt like it was just getting started and has alot of stuff that can be improved upon in the next SSB. coughonlinecough

Travis Touchdown would be friggin epic and very possible. Snake is 3rd party too, and the condition for a character to be in the game is just the following:

"it has to have a game in a Nintendo platform"

So even if it went out to other consoles... Who cares!? The saga still began on the Wii.

So yeah, Travis please :)

Just saw ArakniD post and was about to say something myself, No need for the b**** part but you are right about Travis also Pikmin is a great game and I was glad to see Olimar added but like many character by Nintendo he lacked true substance and chracter. Still so did early marios so Olimar is still Awesome.
