Check out the current stats for Amazon reviews of Dragon Quest IX...

• 5 stars (67 stars)
• 4 stars (57)
• 3 stars (70)
• 2 stars (86)
• 1 star (223)

Well, that's not looking very good, is it? The negative reviews pretty much complain about everything. Gameplay, graphics, save slots, and even the fact that the game is on the DS. Many of the reviews are coming from some people that are either very angry, or are pretending to be very angry. Does this spell a short tail for the game at retail, or will Square-Enix be able to best the 5 million sales goal they were hoping to?

You can bet that 90% of the 1 star group are just butt-hurt PS3 fanboys.

I've never felt the need to go and bash a game, just to bash it...this is pretty crazy.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in the DQ series finally changing it up to thrive in the most stagnant market on the market... yet people are complaining that it's not the same old DQ.

Majority of these are just troll reviews, and as BAB put it, upset Sony fans.

Reviews require some hours of actual gameplay? No.
Reviews require actual game purchase? No.

I'm with kirbylol on this one.

When something is this big, there will always be huge amounts of people against it. It's the way of life.

@Facepalm
Actually, you're very right about this.

This actually reminds me when people on GameFAQs posted a lot of troll reviews on Brawl shortly after the japanese version got released.

Part of me suspects this will just be the haters and trolls for now.

The game could indeed be rubbish but I will wait until I see all the official reviews.

@BAB

@Kirbylol

I don't think that 200.7 raging Sony fans without a DS exist in Japan.

Seeing the complaints... I mean they complain about the fact that you can change armor and see the actual armor!?

You can tell all this hyperbole is some kind of trolling/joke. If people were trying be objective in any way, there would've been a more even split among the 2s and 3s as well.

Game sales based on amazon.com reviews? Why don't you ask us if gamefaqs user reviews will affect sales as well. LOL. You're so silly RMC. Your deductive abilities could be so much better.

Fully agree. Another case of vote stuffing from trolls.

Vote stuffing indeed. Most gamers and all sane people love this game. And apparently a lot of these reviews popped up as soon as the game was announced, 3 years ago.

Theres still time, besides we haven't even seen a single thing about the game besides its announcement. Whats to say SE will pull a Reverse of what Capcom did with MH3 and even though it was Announced for one system, come up with an excuse to put it on another.

"This is why user reviews are not trustworthy."

This.

"Reviews require some hours of actual gameplay? No.

Also, "This".

Pretty much what everyone said so far.

These are AMAZON reviews. -AMAZON-. Come on, I mean, is anyone going to seriously listen to those? Some of those 'reviews' probably even go back to entire -years- ago.

I can imagine that the Brawl reviews are much, -much- worse.
