It's on, it's off, it's on again, it's off...and now it's back on! The Castlevania movie lives once again, and this time James Wan is involved. Mr. Wan is one of the men that created the Saw franchise, and now he's looking to co-write/direct the Castlevania feature film. He's already got a piece of promo art, and according to his statement, it sounds like he knows his Castlevania lore!
"I'm very fresh on this project, so its early stages and I'm still trying to work things out, but the producers love my vision for it. I'll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions. This will have my stamp on it which Konami is very excited about. The thing I love about what Konami did with Castlevania, was taking the iconic Dracula mythology and Eastern-European setting, and retelling it with a Japanese pop-cultural sensibility. That’s the East-meets-West tone I want to visually expand on for the film. I’m thrilled by the opportunity to make a highly stylized, fantasy, action film that focuses on the gothic storyline and the cool, anime-like characters. For once, the human hero is as sexy and dangerous as the vampire villain, and his weapon of choice was what attracted me to the project in the first place – The Vampire Killer Whip.” - James Wan

Yeah, he pretty much nailed Castlevania's charm on that interview.
If it had gone the way it did, Milla Jovovich would've walked into a gothic castle wearing some hobo clothes and use her stupid psychic powers to slay the undead.
Oh, and this would be the same Alice from the Resident Evil films, because Paul W. Anderson sure loves his baby mama!
I'm sorry, it's not an honor to be a creator of one of the dumbest film franchises out there.
The general concenses (I know I spelled it wrong, the computer I'm on lacks Firefox for spell check) seems to be that the first film was great, but the later films started to decline in quality by putting too much focus on grusome torture kills rather than the plot. James Wan wasn't involved in the making of any films after the first one. Wan's other works include Dead Silence, and Death Sentence (which I think are mostly "cult films," but I'm not 100% certain). He also worked with EA for a short time to direct one of the trailers for Dead Space.
On topic:
Well I'll admit that it sounds more interesting now than it was when Paul Anderson was handling the project. Gonna need to see some trailers and such first, but I like the artwork. Sounds like the movie might stay close to the style of the games mostly made by IGA, since those are the most popular after all (well save for Symphony of the Night, where his role wasn't really as big) and Kojima's Castlevania title isn't even out yet so who knows how the change in style will fare (probably will go over alright, since general opinions show that the only designs people didn't care for were the Death Note inspired designs for Judgment [I swear, Simon looks JUST like Light from Death Note, and Aeon looks like an older version of Near]).
I've only just got into Castlevania myself (shame on me) since Order of Ecclesia was my first game, but I bloody love all the games I've played so far in the series. It's the only game series since Zelda and Metroid that has instantly captured my full interest, so this movie is sounding good to me.
I used to swear by firefox but now I use google chrome: twenty times faster.
IExplorer is a joke.
