Casual gaming encompasses so many things, which is why coining it 'casual' isn't really the best name. I think we are all casual gamers to some point. There are genres that we play more than others, and plenty of quick-style games that draw us in for weeks on end. From the most hardcore gamer to the Wii Fit mom, we all have a level of casual gaming that we touch upon.

no, casual games are just that, and there is nothing wrong with casual games, casual gaming, or casual gamers.

the reason that "casual gaming" has gotten to be such a dirt word is simply because instead of making just casual games, nintendo has started to make ALL their games with casual in mind.

i have no beef with Nintendo making casual games, or even, for example, making a casual Zelda title, but to make ALL their games with a casual focus, is not only annoying, but it's wrong as well.

imagine a child being forced to redo the 4th grade until they were 18, then they go out into the real world looking for a job. it's just not cool. some times you need more and need to be challenged, there is nothing wrong with that.

so i agree, we all play casual gaming to some level. i love tetris, but if that's all i had to play, or the only style/type of game i could play, i'd go nuts. likewise, and to be fair, if all i had were FPS on the 360, i'd go even more nuts than i already am.
