“We think that a rebound in Wii hardware sales is possible only with price cuts or a more attractive software bundle. At its current run rate, Nintendo is tracking to sales of only 12 – 15 million Wiis, compared to its reiterated guidance for sales of 26 million. An increase of this magnitude is possible only with a more attractive software bundle or a price cut. We think it is likely that Nintendo will experiment with alternative bundles, possibly including a Wii Sports Resort bundle or a Wii Motion Plus bundle in the next several weeks. We think that Nintendo’s reiteration of its Wii hardware guidance indicates its intention to cut price on the hardware prior to holiday. Should alternative bundles fail to sufficiently drive hardware sales, we think that the company is in a good position to drop the price of the Wii to below $200.” - Wedbush Morgan analyst, Michael Pachter

Wow, I can't believe that Pachter made a prediction that didn't involve Wii HD! A bundle certainly makes a lot of sense to me, and I too think that Nintendo will have one of these set up for the holidays sometime soon.

You should Hold off on all of Pachter's "predictions" until a certain day of the week, and then release them all at once. Like IGN Updates, hit up "Pachter's predictions"

We hear too much of him recently

a revision of their bundled software/addons with the Wii will not be anytime soon. At the earliest, we might get one to coincide with NSMB:Wii's launch.

I'm thankful he stopped talking about the "WiiHD", and he seems to be learning that price drops are not the magical answer to solve every problem. One problem he and others have, is that they refuse to acknowledge that software drives hardware sales; a new bundle will not increase hardware sales, but new software that advance motion controls will.

well, this one ia semi-true in Mexico. A non-official bundle is for sale in a deptartmenr store here. We love non-official bundles.

Um, we don't even have any new colors whatsoever yet. Bundling anything other than Wii Sports right now is not something I see Nintendo will be doing anytime soon.

I think most of us have assumed that the successor to Wii Sports would of course be the natural replacement in the Bundle to keep the price the same, of course I wouldn't mind seeing an extra wiimote and nun-chuck and/or classic controller w/ nintendo points card included in a bundle.

And as far a Pachter goes we should definately see a weekly installment of utterly frivolous dribble in the form of a top ten list.

Ya know what would be brilliant on Nintendo's part? Release a special edition version of Wii Sports Resort which is bundled into the Wii and it features all of the games from Resort + the ones from the original Wii Sports (Tennis, Baseball, Boxing) but with added Motion Plus controls.

That would def. boost sales.

I might be the only one on here who thinks this...

But, who the "F" cares what Pachter thinks? I mean really...

@redhatdrawler

I didn't want to have to break it to you... but your train of thought on this particular matter isn't that unique. :D

You guys are so funny.

When Pachter says positive things about Nintendo the fanboys are quick to praise every word coming out of his mouth.

When he says something less positive or negative about Nintendo, you fanboys criticize him for even opening his mouth.

Fanboys are so amusing.

@Jet Pilot

This is true of anyone. <3 GoNintenfail.

Anyway, Nintendo isn't making a new bundle. They want you to go out and buy Wii Sports Resort and extra Wii Motion + units. They're not giving you them. The whole point was to make the soccer moms, grandpas and Imagine Gamerz to buy more stuff.

Jesus, this guy is never right. Why does the industry pay so much attention to a guy that guesses at things that are in the back of everyone's minds anyway. And never come into fruition, no less.

I would't be suprise to see wii sport being replace by NSMB in the wii bundle, like when Nintendo first began selling NES. Would be a good thing.
