STORY

A thousand years have passed since the events of the original FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES. The destruction of the Yuke Crystal during the Great War had at once brought the victorious Lilty Tribe prosperity, the defeated Yuke Tribe apparent annihilation, and the world a new age of science and reason. In this new era exists a rare breed of powerful beings called “crystal bearers,” whose seemingly magical abilities have led them to be feared and scorned by the public. The young mercenary Layle is one such crystal bearer, who has been hired to escort the new passenger airship Alexis, the pinnacle of Lilty technology and a symbol of their current dominance. However, when the Alexis is suddenly besieged by a horde of monsters, Layle comes face-to-face with an adversary thought to have vanished from the pages of history, on a quest that may threaten the future of the world...

FEATURES

* Enjoy a new chapter of the series that takes place a thousand years after the events of the original FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES, where technology has advanced to its peak and magic is considered taboo
* Encounter the first FINAL FANTASY game developed exclusively for Wii, complete with motion-driven gameplay and intuitive controls that are accessible for gamers of all levels. Enjoy a variety of actions and third-person shooter style gameplay
* Step into the hero’s shoes and experience the action first-hand! Control Layle’s crystal bearer powers to battle adversaries, navigate through obstacles and move objects at will in a highly interactive environment
* Traverse the terrain, swing from high places or take a swim in a world in which all areas are open for exploration
* With an extra Wii Remote™, friends and family can jump in to assist the player in times of need

FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: THE CRYSTAL BEARERS is rated T (Teen). Please visit the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website at www.esrb.org for more information about ratings. On one hand, that's a very unusual release date, but on the other, what do gamers all have at Christmas (unless they are parents?) MONEY!

I'm getting it that's for damn sure.

December the 26th?! Someone needs to tell Square about this little thing called Christmas!

In Japan it would be understandable since Christmas isn't that big over there, but in North America? This is worse than last year when the Wii version of Rock Band 2 was released just days before Christmas, almost too late for anyone to actually get it for a present.

I'll get this sometime next year. As it stands, theres like a dozen games on my 'want' list, and this one doesn't rank too highly on that list.

That is quite possibly the dumbest choice for a U.S. release date that they could have picked.

They might as well have released in Q1 of next year. It's after Christmas anyway and it's barely within this calendar year as it is.

You are so wrong. The Japanese are more crazy about Christmas than the rest of the world ;)

Why is it dumb guys? Don't family members give you like $20 or so in cards at christmas? I mean I'm getting older and don't get that as much, but a lot of people get cash for christmas. Use. Your. Brains.

I'm not going shopping after Christmas.
I have a lot of new games, friends and family and summer vacation starts.

Brain used.

Shut your god damn mouth, I want this game as soon as possible. I thought it was coming out like February and it's good to know that it's coming out this year.

@Walo

Ok. So you personally aren't going to go shopping because summer vacation starts (you must be in australia? in which case this is not the release date for you anyway) and you... what, want to stay inside the whole break? lol

I mean I get your point but just the fact that you don't want to go shopping doesn't mean anything on a larger scale. And also, were you joking when you said 1.68 million copies of HeartGold/SoulSilver sold in 2 days wasn't very good numbers?

Awesome, that means I'll be using the money I get from Christmas immediately! (I tend to get a good amount of money for Christmas, about $100 at least and one year I even got $150, but that was before the economy went into the toilet.)

@tcouto

Me too, but then they don't bother with us lot till after the US release, and then translate into multiple languages [when most gamers know and or speak English].

Oh well.

I have another couple of Wii and DS games, maybe one 360 game, I wanna get before the big 2010 anyway.

That's the worst release date ever!

Then again, tons of people go to stores to return unwanted items.

So well played Square Enix?

@WiiLikeSportz

I live in Chile actually so this date is for me.
Maybe, as I live in the US, I don't really know how people go on their 26th of December, and I know I'm basing my whole premise on anectodal evidence, but I can't see how people are going to go and rush to buy the game, when they just got a good number of games just ONE day earlier. That's my problem.

And who the said I was staying 3 months at home? I meant that out of the 3 months, I'll just have like one week to play games.

And for Pokemon, your sarcasm detector is clearly broken.

This date is messed up...

I know a lot of people get money at Christmas, but an earlier release wouldn't stop people form buying it after Christmas.

Well if people go to the movies on Christmas, I don't see what the big deal is about this. It's not like the game will disappear one week after it releases. And besides, kids will be too busy buying NSMB to care about this game.

Hm. Weird date. Is there any harm to releasing it a few days earlier?

Anyways, I'm not sure about this game. I going to have to wait for reviews. The truth is, I just don't trust Square Enix anymore.

I swear it seems like some Wii developers want their "HAWDCORE" games to fail.

Say, that's funny. They're releasing it on my birthday?

I had to double-check, but then I laughed. Nobody came to my birthday parties. Nobody will come to Squeenix's party.

It wasn't supposed to come out until January, so I don't see how it was supposed to be your christmas gift.
