This makes me so excited and bloodfury mad at the same time.

It's like finding out you just won a Lamborghini, and then having a grand piano made out of cow dung dropped on top of it. I think you all know why...

GAH!!!!!!!!!!

@Venkman

I know. I hate the fact that stupid Technodrome is in the background when I'm trying to watch the Rabbids.

LOL! Something like that... ;)

Great video quality though WiiFolder, imagine how cool it'd be if this video had Leatherhead, Rat King, a Triceriton, and Baxter Stockman w/Mouser going at it instead?

So they have the Technodrome.

Did they have any of the characters from the old series as well, like Krang, BeBop, or Rocksteady?

@thedreadpirateguy

Nope, just Rabbids, Rabbids, and more Rabbids.

There's an Utrom in the game though, which is what Krang was based on in the old cartoon, (a talking brain-thing basically).

The issue of did Ubisoft have/not-have the rights to those character's has been the question here. They have the Technodrome, so you'd think they do, but Wolf Productions is a pain to deal with as far as licensing out those old characters goes from what I hear.

You apparently need more than just Mirage's ok for them, as Mirage Studios, who created the Turtles, did not create those characters.

@Venkman

Actually, Eastman and Laird DID create those characters, so many of the characters created for the show (i.e. Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang, and the like) are still Mirage's property, which is why their inclusion in Turtles Forever and re-releases of the older games wasn't an issue.

I think part of the problem is that Peter Laird doesn't like reusing stuff from the 80's series since it deviated so severely from his and Kevin Eastman's original vision for the turtles. Nothing says they can't be reimagined to be more serious and threatening like Eastman and Laird originally intended, though.

Thanks for the info. I don't know. I don't really think "Rabbids" when I think of TMNT's 25th anniversary.

The game doesn't seem bad, but it does look to have a lot of potential that could have been that was never tapped.

@CyberLink420

Directly from www.ninjaturtles.com:

The rights for the original TMNT cartoon show are owned by the animation studio Fred Wolf Films. Mirage does not own any rights to reproduce images, sound files or movie files from the original cartoon...

So I don't believe that you're correct CyberLink420, at least to them being Mirage's owned IP.

Perhaps Peter or Kevin did have some input as to their design, (even that I would imagine was a small amount because I've read that they don't like having additional mutants running around as they think it takes away from the turtles being special), but I still don't believe that they own those characters and have immediate access to them.

I think that all those deals, (for things like TMNT: Turtles In Time - Reshelled) had to be at least partially worked out with Fred Wolf Films.

Doesn't mean I don't wish at least a few of them might've been included, or in the game in some manner. :)

At it stands though, a TMNTravesty was already commited by not even including simple and easy-to-add characters from the Mirage universe such as The Rat King and Leatherhead amongst others...

For shame Ubisoft. I hope Milton burns down your building.

Yeah, even more proof that it was never tapped is here too:

http://www.turtledojo.com/viewtopic.php ... =iso#p4457

When some know-hows opened up the games source files on their PCs, they saw that there were additional slots for characters that were left empty. Heck, even http://www.tmntgame.com says there's 20 characters, and the game only shipped with 16, (including the 3 unlockable Rabbids).

Clearly, for whatever reason, Ubisoft rushed this game out unfinished, which is a shame. It looks great, and I've heard that it plays really well and is a lot of fun, but as a die-hard TMNT guy, I just can't bring myself to buy this until it hit's the bargin bin because I'm so disappointed in both the roster and the not one, not two, but three shamelessly self-proting Rabbids in a game that is supposed to celebrate the TMNT 25'th Anniversary.

Heck, even though it's self-serving, I think I'd mind it less if it was just one Rabbid and say Altair from Assassin's Creed and Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell or the Prince from Prince of Persia. At least then it's more like SSBB and more of a mix of Ubisoft characters and not just a bunch of Rabbids...

Oh well, here's to Smash-Up 2.

I wish they would've worked on this game for another year or two. This was a game that was supposed to please all the fans and they failed to do that.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is coming to the US and that is a perfect example of how persistent a company can be in making things happen.

TMNT: Tournament Fighters for the SNES is still the best TMNT fighting game. It also has a way better roster. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Yeah, this is a bargain bin game. I'm not paying full price for this one.
