Comparison shot is from the iPhone version

- based on the Genesis version
- reworked completely from scratch without the original code
- smoother graphics and animation
- various difficulty levels
- 'Big Bruty' leve included
- leaderboards that track enemies killed, total time, and more
- more surprises to come at a later date
- Tommy Tallarico musical score retained

I sort of like the pixely look over the hand drawn style. :(

Well, that's the iPhone version. Hopefully the console versions will look a lot better.

Looks good. I've never played the original version so I guess I'll pick up the remake first.

So this will offer absolutely nothing new other than improved graphics? Good, that's some money saved then.

i like contra rebirth because it uses similar but not identical sprites . Sprites without scanlines but not over smudged like this earthworm . I am the first surprised by how contra rebirth have done it .

My instinct tells me to beware of the
new Earthworm Jim. It's coming out this year, and we've only gotten footage of it just recently. Methinks it will go the way of the PSP remake.

- based on the Genesis version

So what was the difference between the SNES and the Genesis version?

@NeroSuferoth
Genesis version had an extra level and is the version ultimately favored by Doug TenNapel.

SNES had better sounds and graphics, though (although some people insist that the Genesis version had better sound, even though they're wrong!)

I can't say I'm a fan of the way this looks, based on that screenshot. It lacks a lot of character that the 16 bit EWJ games had. It looks so...generic now.

Also getting damn tired of MS buying exclusivity on everything...

Maybe the music and voices will be remastered, meaning that not having the SNES sound won't make a difference.

Also, Dan Castellaneta VO for Jim plz.

The best thing about Earthworm Jim's graphics was its animation...and you don't get animation in static screenshot.

I think it looks fine so far.

It may be a remake, but admittedly, I want to do the Big Bruty stage fairly bad.

Hopefully these secrets make it entirely worthwhile, but whatever happened to the brand new EWJ4 that Doug TenNapel was working on and making a movie for?

It may be a remake, but I really want to try Big Bruty.

The "suprises" will hopefully justify a purchase, but what happened to the new EWJ movie and game that Doug TenNapel actually was working on?
