Nintendo expects Wii to sell out in Australia before Christmas.

"I'd be surprised if we don't sell out," says spokesman Vispi Bhopti. "The feedback we're getting on pre-orders is phenomenal, and the overseas experience suggests there won't be stock left lying on the shelves."

But Mr Bhopti rejected reports of 30,000 pre-orders, saying that the actual figure cannot be estimated because many retailers do not share such data.

Nintendo Australia has received and distributed a "balanced shipment" of peripherals like Wii remotes, Nunchuks and component cables and Mr Bhopti is hopeful that shortages that plagued the US launch will not be repeated.

"We should have enough of everything," he says.
