Filed Under: DS, Nintendo in general
Nintendo and 54 other companies won a suit with the Tokyo District Court against retailers that sold R4 and R4-like devices. Those retailers were sent notices that informed them of the situation, and were told that they had to stop selling those devices. Unfortunately, many retailers decided to ignore that notice.
Now, Nintendo and those 54 companies are heading to court once again, and they want to seek out to recoup damages that were incurred from these continuing sales. Furthermore, Nintendo has opened up an online snitch website where people can submit the URL of specific retailers that continue to sell R4 or R4-like devices. Looks like Nintendo is taking things one step further this time around.

Good for Nintendo. Piracy shows a complete lack of respect for the work of others.

Just be like me and get it quick now. lol
Well...I got the DS Iplayer cause it gives me functions that SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE DSI TO BEING WITH.
And it only lets you load homebrew, not roms, which is fine by me. I just want a DSi VC and I'll get it any means necessary if Nintendo won't give me the option to pay for it properly.

Weren't there ads on GN for the last few days for websites that specifically sold R4 and R4-like devices?

So only R4 and R4 clones? If so, not a huge step, as I'm sure other DS homebrew-users agree. Because R4 is extremely outdated compared to current DS and DSi-compatible slot-1 devices.
If not, genuinely great job.

I would think that these vendors could do what the pipe shops do that sell bongs. They say it's just for tobacco use and that they don't promote smoking weed. Like the R4, most people who buy them have "bad" intentions.
Another example is the selling of cable boxes that give you free cable. Companies sell them in the back of popular magazines, but they usually say they're sold for instructional purposes only and not to steal cable.
