Pokemon GO blog update - Niantic Pokémon GO Fest Chicago Update

Today at Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago, technical issues created problems for a large number of players attending the event. From everyone at Niantic, we apologize to all of the Trainers who came out to Pokémon GO Fest today. Although we were able to solve many of the technical issues, we were not able to offer every attendee a great experience.

Niantic is taking the following steps immediately:

All registered attendees will soon receive an email with instructions on how to receive a full refund for the cost of their ticket. These instructions will be sent to the email addresses associated with your Pokémon GO account.
All registered attendees will receive $100 in PokéCoins in their Pokémon GO account.
Special Pokémon, Eggs, and check-in PokéStops appearing during Pokémon GO Fest have had their range increased to a two mile radius surrounding Grant Park through Monday morning, July 24. These Pokémon and Eggs will only be visible to Pokémon GO Fest attendees who validated the QR code they received when they entered Pokémon GO Fest. Attendees who were unable to validate their QR code during the event can do so through the special PokéStops through Monday morning.
All registered attendees will have the Legendary Pokémon, Lugia, added to their account.

We appreciate the patience of all the Trainers who joined us in Chicago this weekend. We will strive to make sure our experiences are of the highest quality going forward.

Pokemon GO blog update - Legendary Pokemon are here

As a result of all the hard work put in during Pokémon GO Fest, incredible in-game bonuses were unlocked for the entire Pokémon GO community. Also, thanks to the Trainers around the world who banded together to catch millions of Pokémon during the Challenge Windows, the following rewards will last until Monday, July 24, at 5:00 P.M. PDT:

Double Stardust
Double Candy
Double XP
Increased Pokémon encounters
Reduced hatching distance
Reduced buddy distance

These Trainers also played an integral role in revealing that Lugia would be the first Legendary Pokémon to enter the real world. In addition to Lugia, the number of Pokémon caught during Pokémon GO Fest by members of Team Instinct, Team Mystic, and Team Valor were tallied up, and, the winner was... Team Mystic! To celebrate this victory, Articuno will join Lugia in Raid Battles everywhere starting immediately. Don’t worry, Team Instinct and Team Valor, the Legendary Pokémon Zapdos and Moltres will also make their way into the real world soon, so stay tuned for more information.

It’s time to adventure together! Gather your friends and family and keep an eye out for Legendary Pokémon Eggs appearing at Gyms near you.

Man, talk about a collector's item. Seems like some EU press members got their with their Splatoon 2 review copies. What I wouldn't give for one of those! Thanks to Microtic for the heads up!

The Sexy Brutale PEGI rating for Switch surfaces

Remember when Tequila Works said they had no plans for The Sexy Brutale on Switch? Looks like they were playing dumb on that one. A PEGI rating for a Switch version just surfaced, which means a port is indeed on the way. I wonder if this will release before RiME gets out on Switch.

Reminder - Check out Splatnet 2 on the Switch online app for exclusive Splatoon 2 gear

SplatNet 2 Gear Shop

A simple reminder to make sure your squid kid is always staying fresh. If you hit up the Switch online app, you can grab some exclusive gear through Splatnet 2. The gear rotates every so often, and even if a piece of clothing looks the same as something in-game, it might offer different abilities.

Harvey Atkin, voice actor for King Koopa in the Super Mario Bros. cartoons, passes away

Harvey Atkin, the unmistakable voice of King Koopa from the old Super Mario Bros. cartoons, has passed away. He was 74 years old.

For as long as I live, I'll always hear that voice in my head when I think about the show. I know the cartoon wasn't really all that great, but Harvey's voice was definitely one of the strongest and most memorable in the cast.
