This image cost a man over $30,000 in court
Remember when we posted up a link to Kind of Bloop, a chiptune cover album featuring 8-bit versions of Miles Davis’ tracks? That was created by Andy Baio, and he got permission to cover every single song that appeared on the album. The problem is, he didn’t think mimicking the original album art in an 8-bit style would be a problem. Unfortunately it was, and since Baio didn’t have the money to fight in court, he ended up settling with the original photographer out of court for $32,500. Just doesn’t seem fair, does it?
