Religious phrase removed from Zack and Wiki

Wow, looks like our story turned some heads. Last weekend we posted a story from one reader concerning a religious chant in Zack and Wiki. Not only did the story cause a flurry of comments on our site, many of our readers that were offended by the issue emailed various outlets to get things changed.

Today Capcom has confirmed that the offending phrase has been removed from the game. Their statement follows…

“We have already contacted the team working on the game, and the phrase has been removed from the game and will not be heard in future videos released to the public.” - Capcom rep

The Council on American-Islamic Relations was responsible for getting in touch with Capcom after they heard about the issue. It appears that the CAIR is very pleased with Capcom’s reaction.

“We appreciated Capcom’s willingness to address Muslim concerns and applaud the company’s swift and appropriate actions.” - CAIR Communications Coordinator Amina Rubin
