Sony plans to bring casual gaming experience to PS2

I guess Sony’s focus with the PS3 is to go after ‘core’ gamers and technophiles. That doesn’t mean that Sony is about to abandon the PS2 though. Kaz Hirai, chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment stated that there are plans to combat the Wii through the PS2. There will be a range of ‘casual games and non-core gamer games’ heading to the platform. I am not quite sure how well these will do without the inclusion of motion sensing.

This isn’t the first time we have heard Sony talk about this idea, but it seems that they still have plans to continue on with the idea. Do you think it will make an impact?
