Does gaming promote reading?

Some people still have no idea just how much text is in games. Let’s take a look at Super Paper Mario. That game was overflowing with dialog. Some long-time gamers even complained that it was too much! If you couldn’t read well, you wouldn’t make it through that game.

I think the idea of libraries working together with games is a great idea. Games get kids into the library, games do involve reading, and the two can play off of each other. You may consider it a cheap ploy at first, but it really is one of the best ways to get children interested, and give them motivation to further their reading skills. They’ll realize that later in life, you just may have to use those reading skills for something other than games!
