You can see how it would be tough for an actor to portray a character that they know little to nothing about, correct? That’s why most movies usually have acting that is at least par, moreso than horrible acting popping up. In the video game industry, it seems to be the complete opposite. There is definitely a huge amount of poor voice acting, and a very little slice of quality work. It all comes back to poorly-developed characters.
Voice actors aren’t getting a chance to learn about and understand their characters. They come in, are thrown a bunch of lines, and then they hit their recordings in one take. How can we expect great voice acting when the actor involved knows nothing about the character they are portraying, and they hardly get more than one chance to nail it?
