EA - all games will eventually be services

GN Version 3.1

“If you believe all games will eventually be services - as I do - then the idea of game teams that make a game, ship it, and then do something else goes away. They will now ship and day one begins when the customer gives feedback to the live service.” - Electronic Arts’ chief operating officer John Pleasants

Do I like the idea of publishers and developers being able to add content to games long after release? Of course I do, but this shouldn’t come at the expense of a buggy release that is patched after it hits retail. Unfortunately, if all games become ’services’, I can see things heading in that direction.
