The Necessity Of Interactive Animation For Games

GN Version 3.1

You know what I really miss from the days of 8 and 16-bit gaming? Those little idle animations that you used to get when letting your character stand still. Those don’t seem to pop up in games much anymore, which is something I feel games of today could really use. It was the little touches in animation that really gave me a connection with the character.

The game industry keeps moving forward with graphics, but the developers need to stop and look at the little things. No matter how realistic a character appears, once the animations and facial expressions come into play, everything can fall apart. Without the little bits being convincing, the full picture becomes a mess.
