Why Animal Crossing's "Animalese" sounds different in Japanese than English

It's all Animalese to me

The Villagers in Animal Crossing sound different in Japanese and English, which is wild because they're supposed to speak nonsense. So why does Nintendo dub Animalese? The answer lies in the history of voice synthesization in video games.

A tutorial for adding custom pictures to Animal Crossing: New Horizons

For fine art only, of course

You might have come across a few homes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that have some really fancy art showcasing things you'd never find in Animal Crossing. Pictures from movies and other games, memes, you name it. Wondering how you do that? The above video gives the step-by-step process on getting it done. There's a few steps you'll have to go through, but it's nothing too taxing.

Super Mario 64 gets a Danganronpa mod

How do people think of this?!

There have been countless mods for Super Mario 64 that give it new levels, character, challenges, and more. This mod is certainly a step beyond that. It aims to marry the gameplay of Super Mario 64 with the Danganronpa series.

Super Mario 64 is a 3D platformer about collecting stars and dealing with enemies, while the Danganronpa games are about conversing with characters, gathering evidence, and taking on debate mini-games. Seems like the two don't really fit together, yet somehow this Danganronpa 64 mod does a pretty good job of marrying the two worlds. It's certainly a unique experiment at the very least!

Thanks to RikuKH for the heads up!

Check out a print ad for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

Due out March 26th

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is launching in Japan on March 26th, 2020, which doesn't leave much time to spread the word. Bandai Namco is making a final marketing push this week, which includes a new print ad in the latest issue of Famitsu. It'll be interesting to see what the split is between XB1/PS4/Switch sales when this game launches. There's no doubt Switch will debut ahead of XB1, but can it top PS4?

Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy may come to Switch on March 26th, 2020

Do it

We haven't heard anything about Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy in quite some time, but it seems we might be in store for a surprise release this week. Sony's official website says that Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is heading to PS4 on March 26th, 2020. It seems very likely the game will hit the same day on Switch. Certainly makes for a nice surprise launch during a Nintendo Direct, doesn't it?!

Slay the Spire "The Watcher" update coming on March 23rd, 2020

Keep a lookout for this one

Slay the Spire is getting updated to Version 2.0 on the night of March 23rd, 2020. This is 'The Watcher' update, as she's a new character being added in. Check out full details on this update below.

The 4th Character

The Watcher has arrived to evaluate the Spire. She brings her training in the divine stances and a seeing staff to cast judgment upon the wicked Spire spawn.

Like the other characters, the Watcher comes with her own set of cards and a handful of unique relics.

A huge thanks to all the players who helped test the 4th character on the beta branch. All of your feedback, data, and reading various discussions really helped us test out new ideas and tweak the character rapidly!

Potion Lab

We added many potions this time around so we also created a screen that allows you to view all the potions!
This can be found in the Compendium section of the main menu as the Potion Lab. You can even look up the rarities of all the new and existing potions.

Monolith Soft grows to 243 employees, its highest amount ever

Things are going better than ever

Back in 2011, Monolith Soft had roughly 70 employees. This was when the developer opened a second studio in Kyoto to be closer to Nintendo. Monolith Soft would help work on some of Nintendo's biggest titles at the time, including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This was the year that things would really pick up for Monolith Soft.

Monolith Soft has grown in total employees every single year since 2011. That brings us to where they are in 2020, sitting at 243 employees in total. This is the biggest amount of employees the company has had working under their roof ever. Some of them surely worked hard on Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and other unnamed projects. Hopefully we get a peek at those titles soon!
