A Guidebook of Babel, a plot-focused adventure game from publisher Pixmain and developer StarryStarry, is coming to Nintendo Switch. The latest Indie World Showcase showed off a few seconds of footage, revealing a Fall 2022 release timeframe. Check out the eShop page here for screenshots and more details.
A Guidebook of Babel is a plot adventure game with butterfly effect at the core. After death, you will soon realize you’ve boarded the Babel…and while this may feel like the twilight zone, you will be given a pen to rewrite the past so future events can unfold.
[Crew announcement] You are now onboard Babel, a giant cruise tasked with leading you to the afterlife. Take this guide with you to help navigate your new surroundings. But first, in order to properly welcome you onboard, the crew will first discharge your memories and power up the Giant Boiler to prepare for departure!
You will need to know how it works in order to complete the Guidebook adventure log: Butterfly Effect
This is an unusual journey, but you’ll be able to piece everything together in the end. I hope. While you’re at it, you’ll realize you can rewind and fast forward to a point in time to rewrite the story. It’s entirely up to you to decide
Multiple Perspectives
Relax…everyone here is a friend of mine, so sit back and let them tell you their stories. Soon you’ll find that their separate perspectives may be intertwined.
Unpredictable Outcomes
The consequences of triggering the butterfly effect are utterly unpredictable as even the smallest change could drastically alter the future. With that much power in your hands, who is really telling the story here? You or me?
You may feel like you’ve landed in Bizarro World, but I assure you’ll soon find Babel an extraordinary place to be. I don’t mean to brag…but here’s what you can expect: A series of “unfortunate” events
A story-rich adventure that takes off the moment you land on Babel. But the afterlife is not a dull place, you will soon find yourself intertwined in drama and mishaps that requires your full attention.
Comedic art style with an original soundtrack
With a touch of inspired lunacy and nostalgia, you’ll be guaranteed an immersive yet unconventional experience on the Babel.
Choices really matter
An interpretation of butterfly effect where your choices will have a rippling effect on story progression, we’re counting on you!
Light-hearted yet deserving reflection
A heart-warming adventure while exploring themes of life, death, family and letting go…
Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Nerial are releasing a free demo today for their card-based adventure game, Card Shark. It will be available via the Nintendo eShop. In addition, digital pre-orders will be opening up around the same time. Card Shark doesn’t have a release date, but it’s still expected to launch sometime this year.
Card Shark is an adventure game full of cunning, intrigue, and delectable deceit. Enter a world where you’ll need to play your opponents better than you play your cards. Cheat your way to the top of 18th-century French society. Master deceptions using card marking, false shuffles, deck switching, false deals, and more! Use your ill-gotten gains to buy your way into the closed world of high-stakes tables.
We now have a release date for the previously announced Switch version of the business simulation game, Idol Manager. Developed by Glitch Pitch and set to be published by PLAYISM, Idol Manager will launch digitally from the Nintendo eShop on August 25th, 2022. Idol Manager originally released for PC via Steam in July of last year.
You take on the role of manager at a small (but growing!) talent agency. As you cultivate and train the newest generation of young pop stars, you’ll have to decide who to hire and who to fire, who gets promoted when things go well and who gets reprimanded when things get sour. The personal lives of these young celebrities are a part of your business, and the life of a pop star isn’t always a happy one. Their crowning personal achievements can be your greatest commercial successes, but their emotional meltdowns and PR nightmares can spell financial disaster for your company.
It’s not just the idols you have to worry about. The world is full of gossip magazines, super fans, and rival groups, all thirsty for a scoop on the latest scandal. There’s a lot of people who want to tear you down and are willing to play dirty, but try not to let it get to you. It’s not personal, it’s business.
Features
- Decide how to deal with crises including gossip, vandalism, stalkers, or threats directed at your agency and the pop idols you manage.
- Manage relationships between the different idols in your group, as you deal with cliques, internal feuds, and bullying.
- Grow your fanbase by varying your tactics and appealing to a wide variety of demographics.
- Produce singles, hold concerts, organize huge TV events and overseas tours to capitalize on your group’s popularity and bring in revenue.
- Develop your agency’s building. Start with simple offices and dance rooms to produce content and train your idols, and end with your own cafe and theater to create a steady stream of revenue. Hire and train staffers to help deal with logistics and keep your agency running smoothly.
- Discover substories - chains of events and visual novel segments, many of which are triggered by your play style. Each substory can play out in multiple different ways based on your decisions, often causing serious consequences for your playthrough.
