GN Version 5.0

It's going to be quite some time until we get our hands on Shin Megami Tensei V, but it does seem the bulk of development is now underway. While the dev team starts the heavy lifting, Famitsu sat down with producer Kazuyuki Yamai to get a feeling of what experience we can expect from the final game.

- the team has gotten an idea of how the game’s story and systems will work
- the team is at a stage where some characters can be moved around
- the real meat of development is starting from here on
- it will be some time before there will be any more news
- the series appears to have 3 generations of players following it
- there's the fans from the NES/SNES, the fans who started with SMT III, and those who came in with IV and IV Final
- the goal is to make SMT V a game that can be enjoyed be all generations, while also being appealing to current gamers
- the team is aiming to make something completely new, but fundamentally SMT-like
- SMT asks the player if they really want to save the world, and it’s a “life simulator” RPG
- they are trying to make SMT V a game that people at the end of the 2010’s can empathize with
- SMT V will be representing new values
