The Zelda speedrunning community was turned on its head when players discovered the 'Barrier Skip' glitch in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. It drastically reduced the overall time to complete the game, and became one of the holy grails for speedrunners. Ever since that trick was unearthed, speedrunners have wanted to utilize the same tactic in the original Wind Waker on GameCube. For numerous reasons, players just couldn't get the trick to work...until today.

After countless hours of repetition and botched runs, a method has been discovered to activate the same 'Barrier Skip' on GameCube. Things have to be done a bit differently in order to make the glitch work, but the end result is the same. Yet again, we have a speedrunning discovery that's going to completely change how people approach run the original Wind Waker.

Thanks to cm30 for the heads up!
