Analysts predict 2024 as the year for Switch 2, speculate on power, price & more

Nintendo hasn’t said much of anything about the successor to the Switch, other than stating new hardware is in the works. With the Switch still going strong, there’s no doubt the system has some life left in it, but we’re also seeing the telltale signs of Nintendo gearing up for a shift to the next generation.
While we wait for Nintendo to make it official, analysts feel more than comfortable saying that 2024 will be the year for whatever hardware comes after Switch. Some of those analysts spoke with Games Industry to share what could be coming down the pipeline, and that includes pricing, features and more.
Please note that the following analyst comments are nothing more than speculation. These analysts aren’t privy to inside information, and are instead speculating based on past comments and actions from Nintendo.
The time is finally here for a Switch successor, even though I can say a “Pro” model actually did exist and certain developers were already working with the dev kit. I believe the next hardware will drop next year for $400. There is a high chance that games will cost more, too: $70. The next system is also likely to be an iteration rather than a revolution. Nintendo might add some bells and whistles to the device, but it will be similar to the current Switch. And because there is Pokémon, and Pokémon is associated with handheld gaming, there is no way on earth Nintendo will drop the portability feature for their next big thing.
Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in 2024 with a highly anticipated 3D Mario game. Having embraced a digital storefront, Nintendo will allow users to transfer between Nintendo accounts to Switch 2; no more building your games library from scratch.
It certainly seems like 2024 is the time to, at the very least, announce the Switch’s successor. As to when Nintendo decides to do that, we’ll all just have to wait and see!

I would be surprised if they DIDN'T raise the price of games. Everything I buy is more expensive now. Why wouldn't games keep up with inflation?
And I hope he's right that it's an iteration on the Switch, not a radical new idea. I really like how the Switch works. I'd just like a stronger one, maybe with some new features. (or some old ones back, like the infrared pointer)

4M agoIt's obvious it will stay a hybrid. We get it. Nintendo will not split up into handheld and homeconsole again but want both markets.
But sure hope it's more than just a beefed up Switch and they have some oddball addition to it for that Nintendo magic =)
The big games for 70 and smaller ones for 60 sounds reasonable.

4M agoEvery these analysts said is reasonable (though I'd like to see more receipts for the mythical Switch Pro).
Maybe we'll all be surprised, but it's become unusually easy to guess Nintendo's approach to this new platform compared to past generations. There COULD be some new X-factor beyond that if cost allows for it. Most won't be shocked at a $400 Switch follow-up with $70 games given the times; anything close to $500 is another matter.
