Omega Ridley's demise seemed more definite than the one of Meta Ridley. But who knows, maybe it rematerialize like Dark Samus, if there's need for a contrivance.
I did see spots of Sakamoto referencing Other M. Like the POV with the baby Metroid, and this encounter with Ridley stating it's in fact the same one from the first game which might be an insinuation that the only resurrection is in Other M (but still PTSD would still make more sense here if we go by the idea that Prime isn't part of this canon, especially since the baby Metroid is a mirror of her origin).
Still Samus Returns kinda explains why Ridley is red in the concept art from Super Metroid. Though at the same time it undercuts his appearance in Ceres being an unexpected attack, which makes me wonder if the bounty she went to was a hint of the space pirates regrouping or something like that. And it confuses me what are the properties that could benefit mankind, the chozo pictures imply Metroids can be domesticated in their early stages, and is until they mature when they kill anyone.
I haven't seen the whole of Samus Returns but I hope it at least hints why Ridley is in SR388. Maybe he sneak on Samus through out this game:
I think I also noticed a plothole in AM2R, since the Gravity Suit can resist lava, maybe that's why it was changed to acid in Samus Returns, to be fair the original manual states "dangerous liquid".
In regards to Metroid Prime 4, the existence of Metroids still puts it before this game, and what would make sense is the premise of a Metroid attack to the Federation leveraging an unanimous decision to exterminate them. Though I don't expect Nintendo making that story. I really wonder if they'll eventually shake up the status quo.
EDIT: I think I also have an idea on why Metroid cycles fit solely on Samus Returns and Fusion and why it wouldn't change if they ever remade Super. Maybe it's the X what makes the grow, that's the same color as the cocoons and would also explain why an Omega appears so fast at the end of Fusion. If correct this would also make Other M make even less sense on why they have a Queen, (disregarding the fact that if you can clone these things why have the need to keep a Queen.)
